A search Engine on this site would be incredible. It would be nice to be able to search something quickly by typing in what we are looking for. ie if we were looking for information on a company, type in their name and all threads containing that company name would show up. would save on a lot of threads that don't need to be added. It would also save a lot of time if someone is looking for a quick reference on a company.

It takes you to the forum itself, but you still have to search through the forum itself. What I am talking about is one that will bring up the specific threads themselves rather than the whole forum. sort of like when you look up your own posts.

All you have to do is select "show posts" instead of "show threads" and it will just show you the individual posts mentioning what you are searching for.

There is a problem with the search facilities on this forum.

I searched for CMX so I could check out a company called "CMX Motor Xpress" before I did work for them. I searched and found nothing. Now, I'm chasing them for money so I started my own thread with their company name in the title. When I search for CMX I still get nothing, although I know it's out there because I started the thread.

Any help would be appreciated, as I don't think people are finding out about CMX's problems because when they search it looks like nothing has been written about them, but in fact it has.

Thanks

Agree a search engine would be much easier then searching through 13 pages of threads to find info on someone

To reply to Johnny Chicken... if I search for CMX it doesn't find anything... but if I search "CMX Motor" then it finds his thread.

Thanks faey06, I can see that now.

Weird though, you'd think that using less text in a search would get you more results... Like casting with a wide net...

Is this working yet? I have the same problem. If you don't type in the text that is the title of the thread you will not return any threads. I wanted to search RPM but it doesn't come up but I'm sure I saw it on here once. I just don't know the whole title of the thread

Try putting in quotes around any 3 letter request...RPM would be "RPM" that should help.

That seems to work but it didn't work for RPM. Didn't come up with anything. I am sure that I saw a post on them earlier.

Yes, I have the same problem. I am looking at the thread:
http://www.insidetransport.com/rumor-mill/8873-challenger-trucking.html
and I can see ISG Transport in Darlene's posting but when I run Search This Thread on ISG, I get 0 results. I also tried: 'ISG', "ISG", "*ISG", '*isg', etc with the same results. I can see it on my web page but the search engine cannot find it. It is a problem that seriously misleads people looking for something. For example: you need to find quickly information on ISG company and you find nothing, so one might come to a conclusion there in nothing on this company in this forum which is wrong. It probably has to do with the type of database and how it handles the queries that are submitted and that is a very intimate information for the site owner. However, any pointers on how to overcame this problem would be greatly appreciated. Could it be browser or o/s, related?

On top of the donation bar there is a good search for this website, try that might help find things quicker.
