they cancelled a load at 17h45 pm on Friday a pick up scheduled for saturday morning of a 3 day weekend and offered 150$ as a compensation for a 578 miles load we brought empty back.

Do yourself a favor and refuse their loads

Where are they out off? Are not they shippers only not freight forwarders?

Shippers they are. Got the load from a well known freight brokerage facility in Toronto.

Here is something that might stir up the pot a little bit. This thread talks about the shipper offering a certain amount of money for the truck to come home empty. I don't see any mention of the freight broker stepping up to the plate to make things right. Usually I wouldn't be too concerned with what the shipper was offering if I was dealing with a freight broker, because I am working for the freight broker. Didn't the broker offer to top things up a little bit for the sake of saving a working relationship? They usually know the risk of dealing with these paper loads and the fact that they are always changing around. I for that matter, never book a truck to take a weekend pick up for a paperload. I have seen too many times when the load is either cancelled or the pick up time pushed back to the next day etc.

I had my lesson. I am still struggling with the idea of a payback time, on a friday booking for this broker....how many of you would be tempted to do it? dropping the load back of their hands when there is no hope to find another carrier.... That would be sweet revenge...

I find it interesting martinwizz that you are still holding a grudge but yet have not mentioned a name.............that would be the best revenge because then you would have everyone keeping an eye on them.
