Road Land / M Harris

So easy to avoid !

Brokers COMMUNICATE to your customer or the shipper EXACTLY who you hired to do the move if a truck shows up with someone elses name on door DO NOT LOAD!

COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE !!

The ONLY vulnerable party in these scams are the carriers hired by the NO GOOD ROTTEN LOW LIFE SCUM BAGS trying to double broker.

DUE DILLIGENCE PEOPLE !

Grrrr!

We booked a couple of loads with this Haris M (all of their paperwork checked out), they re-broker to Road Land Logistics and two wonderful carriers (we also work directly with) nearly get ripped off??
Note that these Haris M types ask for quickpay (5-7 days) and hope that the chq is mailed and cashed before anyone realizes what's going on.
And nothing is actually being done to shut these guys down? I'll tell you what'll shut these guys down, give me their 'real' address and I'll pass it on to my carriers that nearly lost $3k each.
Thankfully we caught this and they are only out $500 and $700.
Even that sucks though, we all know how much business we need to do in order to make that kind of money back because it's off the bottom line.

FYI - I've confronted Haris M about this, the most recent reply was 'um, er, we needed to do what we needed to do to get the load moved, feel free to deal directly with the carrier and oh there was a price differential? Tell them they are more than welcome to go after Road Land for the difference.'

I'll say this, buddy was lucky it was a phone conversation. If you don't care about screwing hard working people in this industry karma will one day get you.

Thankfull for this site, it helped me realize what was going on prior to releasing the quickpay.

(Hi Rita);)

Just got a call from Road Land out of florida asking me to move some LTL for them, seems to good to be true...
I'll keep an eye on them, thanks every one for the Heads up

Wow... Small world...

I just got a call from Ray at Road Land Logistics in Miami Florida. I've never heard of them and they just called me out of the blue.

They are trying to get a full load moved from Portsmouth, OH to Toronto area. They offered us $ 1400. Dispatch was suspicious...

After a quick investigation, we decided not to do the load.

They keep on trying to pass this off, some desperate person will take it eventually..

Ok, here's some more info on these people.

Our phone calls all came from Ray, but when he sent over his info via email we could see that the email was sent from the following email address: danielbrch@gmail.com

He even sent over a list of references including one from... you guessed it, Transport M Haris!! haahaha... they are clearly not too bright...

Also, they listed 3 different addresses for their company, here they are:

527 DUNDONALD # 428, FREDERICTON, N.B.

199 EAST FLAGLER ST. # 810, MIAMI, FL. 33131

2 TORONTO ST. # 250, TORONTO, ONT

Hey, if somebody out there is crazy enough to take these loads, come back and let us know what happened, eh?...

Everyone should accept all loads offered to them and find out who the original broker is and let them know who they are dealing with. This will make it impossible for these guys to stay in business. We did it all you have to do is call the shipper and find out who they deal with and call them. Slowly but surely these tactics work.

Just to let everyone know...We did 2 loads for Road Land Logistics out of Fredricton, NB back in early November and still have not been paid for them. I have spoken to their accounts clerk on several occasions and always get the run around. First the cheque was lost, then the cheque was mailed, and never arrived and this week it got mailed again.

You need to go after the shipper or receiver immediately these people are not going to pay you......do not wait call them now.

Just got burned

I thought it couldn't happen to us, but it did. A dispatcher lax in the procedures is all it takes. Just got burned by M. Haris for about $4000.

They took a load from us and looks like they triple brokered it for more than we paid them. In total they did 4 loads for us before someone came to us looking for money.

Beware!

Pablo,

It happens to everyone and yes...all it takes is a dispatch or order entry error - taking a load from a "customer" that unbeknownst to you at the time - you will regret later on....

We do our best here also to always be 1 step ahead but you can't police every department. You win some and you lose some...all in a days work...

There is nothing worse than logging on to this site - seeing a company name posted by another member under the "Non Paying" header - turns out that company is someone you extended credit to and owes you money...just makes you want to cringe.....

I too would like to express my sympathies to Pablo. There is a certain pain in your stomach when you realize that a crook has taken advantage of you. It may not seem like it now, but that feeling will pass and will be replaced with a strengthened resolve to prevent it from occuring again. I cannot emphasis enough, the importance of incorporating a check on this site before either extending credit or giving freight to a new entity. That is why it is so very important that we all post our comments whenever we have a bad experience with shippers, brokers or carriers. The more info we have available, the better we will be.

I would also like to add to this thread. If you are at all receiving any benefit whatsoever from this site then you should contribute a couple of bucks to help sustain it. They really are not asking for much. I know I have saved considerably by checking with this site and woud hate to see it disappear because the members refuse to support it.

We are trying to collect $1300.00 from Road Land from back in Nov./09 We got to looking at the paperwork & the "Carrier of Record" on it is CH Robinson. We all know where this is going to go. I only wish I had caught this thread earlier.

If anyone out there has the time, the folks that operated this scam purchased a company previously owned by these folks. I was given this lead a few months ago but just havent had the time. They will be able to give you the name of who purchased their trucking company with the intentions of fraud.

I am told they only speak french
