 I had an 18' straight that slid slightly into the median in Ruther Glen,VA on Saturday in that bad storm. I called a tow company,Bud's Towing, who's yard was less than 3/4 of a mile from my truck. I got charged $400.00 US just to pull it back onto the road. When I received the invoice it was for a DHL truck & only for $175.00. When I called & asked why the difference, I was informed that every job is different. I couldn't resist the parting shot that "I suppose it has nothing to do with being Canadian & out of state?"..... no reply. Nice to see that people out there are still ready to make a killing when all around are in trouble

I can relate to that. We paid $400 as well last week, for basically the same thing. This was Jerry's Garage in Athens, TN. Funny thing is we didn't even have the call them, the tow truck alreay there.

Abrams Towing from Mississauga, got us for $620.00 to pull our truck from a dock as it was sitting on ice on an incline. The whole job from the time we called to the time he left with our money was 20 minutes, worst part was Abrams yard was 2blocks from our truck. Talk about taking advantage of a bad situation. We will never use them again, nothing but crooks.

I can see if your truck is in a ditch in VA, but paying $620 out of your own dock is pretty ridiculous. You have options, Abrams is the only towing company in Mississauga?

That just sounds fishy.

We use A Towing, great service, fair rates, no ripoffs, and they actually care about your equipment so as not to damage it more than it already is.

Markham to Pickering $315.00 including taxes. (26 foot straight with sleeper, no load)

How on earth did JP Towing justify $1625.00 for a 2km trip? Did you pay it?

We learned many years ago to set up accounts with a lot of companies because for some reason if you have an account with them and usually a rate sheet then you do not get ripped off but if you call them out of the blue you are in trouble. We have been towed by a couple of companies and not sure how they could do it so cheap but then the next day you here of them overcharging someone else no rhyme nor reason.

They say they had to tow both units (tractor & trailer) from collector lanes at Dixie & 401 west. Truck blew steering tire while merging from express to collectors. Too much traffic to get to the shoulder. Police called them we had no choice but to pay. They now say they will give us a discount on the next tow.
