So, Question for you temp control guys out there.

It's my understanding that... a log can be printed / downloaded from a reefer to indicate what temperature the unit was set at during a trip. I understand that there is a limited amount of time that the info is available (ie: the last 90 days or what have you).

Is the same type of log available for a heated trailer?

Amy insight on this is appreciated.

Not on our heaters they are nowhere near as sophisticated as new reefer units though. My heaters are about 10 years old fyi.

"back in the day" you would have to bring it to a dealer and have them down load. Newer units now can have it done remotely. Set point/ambient temp/any fluctuations. Very complete.

Our fleet is the same as Rob.

Reefer - We can do anything you want on it remotely. You want to lock it so the driver can mess with it? No problem. You want a reefer report? No problem, can pull that for you in 5 minutes. Every unit has that ability.

Heated Van - Our heated vans are closer to a plugged in space heater than they are a reefer unit. Can't do anything, all manual and I think they literally have an On/Off setting and nothing else.

We have a few newer TK and Carrier heater vans. They're all manual. As @Fr8Guru mentioned, they're the same as a space heater: low tech but effective. If you need to log a load you can put a data logger inside the trailer but most loads that are protect from freeze you wont have many issues unless the load shows up frozen, however not much you can do retrospectively.
