R M Platinum Transportation Inc.

Just to update on my last note. I ended up dealing with Mike and Rick Brown the owner about our shipment that had an issue. They picked up good after the miss communication and were timely in delivery no further issues. Some confusion with communications especially with Maliha so be clear but the service ended up being good. Rick was good to deal with.

The going rate according to RM Platinum inbound from Indiana is 2000.00 per load, given that their outbound rate was really bad. Is anyone else experiencing the same pricing swing.
I'm hoping its the start of a brand new day.

I've experienced ridiculous rates from them in the past but in the spot market, one who lives by the sword dies by the sword. These guys wouldn't even be considered unique in that respect.

I guess he should of said no to that $500 500 mile outbound and helped us all in the long run. I personally like the auction style of rating. You know when a carrier says they will do the load for a grand you say ok and then they say no I meant 1200

(Just guessing but there is way to much buck a mile crap)

I think we all know the market we're in. If you figure out what the inbound and outbound rates are on most routes right now and divide out the miles, you'll realize that we're in a period of unsustainable rates on the spot side of the business. So even though it is stressful and it sucks, I get it ... if a company feels they can command the price on certain days to counter out some bad stuff, I can live with it. As long as they do what they say they will do.

If I'm quoting the customer spot and the customer agrees, all I want is my fair piece. If I'm on a contract with them, I'm taking an educated risk and sometimes I will do better than average, sometimes worse. But over time if margins fit into a normal range ... it's par for the course.

They double brokered a load and aren't paying. They ask for an email on every phone call and after 10 or so email we still cant get a payment date. Now they pick up and disconnect the phone. The invoice is 75 days old. were not the only ones with this problem. Transport Couture just went through this also.

I hope to god NO one ever uses RM PLATINUM, under no circumstances. EVER. I've had the worst experience in my 7+ years in the industry. Very very long story short, RM picked up a shipment for me, on the day of the scheduled delivery they called me and notified me that "the company is going out of business". My BS radar was tingling, i kept probing them with questions which they kept ducking. All they said was "send me a revised confirmation" and they would deliver my freight to a cross dock of their choosing, i'm still uncertain who would cover the costs. Basically, the shipment was supposed to deliver to Nebraska but only made it to their yard (in Brampton, i didn't know that at the time, they wouldn't tell me). I kept asking them where my shipment is, they kept saying send me a revised. I kept telling them that it would be much easier for me to pick up the freight from the original destination, i didn't want the freight here, i never asked for it here. I needed it from point A to Z - not point A to C.
After a long back and forth i just wanted to be done with this debacle and asked them to deliver it to my yard instead (at this point i obviously no longer trusted them to do anything, deliver it anywhere and wanted my freight in my possession), they decline my request and told me that my freight will be held hostage("lien") until i pay them the money. Or else, after they "close down" on this day, i will have to deal with collections and their lawyers, to which i replied, please send me your lawyers name and number and i will get my lawyers to get in touch with them. They declined my request.
At this point, I was fed up and decided to drive down there and look at the person who's trying to screw me in the eye. When i got there i asked to speak with the owner, shortly afterwards Maliah ran out of the office and started to be very confrontational, saying "leave, you are trespassing, leave, i am calling the police" which she did. I stepped out of the office and after a little while Rick the president came out. To be fair, he did answer most of my questions, "your freight is here", "if we are going out of business it is the first i hear of it" and "we can deliver it to your warehouse" - all good answers. Moments later, the police showed up and after questioning RM Platinum they notified me that my freight did not deliver because they didn't have a driver on it (i obviously called them all week to trace and "were good for delivery" was the answer). Why would anyone lie like that? to go through such a headache and for what...
The way i see it, they were holding my freight hostage to get out of their contract(confirmation to deliver to NE) and used blackmail to make me enter another contract (delivery to a cross dock). The police told me that basically i got "fu**ed" and since its a civil dispute "there's nothing we can do about it". The police however did negotiate a delivery to my warehouse, and after many many hours of a useless waste of time they finally got it here.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME!

They have been on our DNU list since last summer. terrible communication and even then, they don't do what they say they will.

Going out of business legitimately with a fully disclosed bankruptcy as opposed to closed doors with no phones working are two completely different things.

It's been my experience that a move and phones disconnected never meant 'going out of business'. It just meant the delinquents buggered off long enough for people to give up and stop looking for their money. These 'outfits' resurface with either the same name or a version of it...all the same people...a year or so later. Happens all the time.

If this was a legitimate closing - there will be plenty of documents going around in the next month or so....wait & see.

I have to agree with AccountsReceivable, time will tell.
