Question about posting shippers that don't pay

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and I have to say there is some great info on here. I have seen warnings about slow or no paying brokers / shippers. Just wondering if there could be legal action taken against one of us for posting negative experiences about a customer?
 
I don't think that you could be subject to any type of legal action, provided your comments are factual. Obviously slanderous comments regarding a shipper/carrier/broker could land you in some "hot water",if the aggrieved party thought it was worth the trouble to proceed with litigation. I think that we all agree, any postings on this site should be as truthful and accurate as possible. Stating that ABC Company has not paid an invoice that's over 100 days old is factual. Stating that ABC Company are cheats, liars, criminals, fraud artists, engage in known criminal activity, etc, etc. might be pushing the envelope. I believe this site is best served by its members relaying their experiences in a rational, logical fashion, without letting their emotions get the better of them.

Loaders, that was a great answer to the question. I agree that staying with only the facts cannot lead anyone into trouble.
 
I also agree that if you stick to the truth/facts there is little to worry about. Also leaving the name calling out adds credibility to the forum and yourself.

I pride myself in being an honest person and trust fellow insiders to be also.
If someone has cheated me out of revenue, I.ll certainly tell it like it is.
Legal action against me .... no worries.
 
In that case, I have a customer that I would like to warn others about and say "BEWARE" We have over $50,000 of outstanding receivables dating back to July of 2009. The most recent invoice was from early September of 2009. TSC Nursery. I am a broker and we pay our carriers within 30 - 45 days regardless that we are still trying to collect from our customer.
 
Welcome aboard dmckay, and congratulations on being such a quick learner! That is exactly the kind of messages this site looks for. Now, if another broker or carrier is approached by this shipper, a quick search on this site will warn them of your experience. I am sure you had some other, more flavourful, comments you would like to make about them, but precise, factual information does the job. It is also encouraging to have another broker as a member, who pays his carriers in a timely fashion, regardless if the customer has paid their bill.
