Did some further digging last night on this company, and seems like this company/individual has multiple MC/DOT's associated with them - most are out of California...

this broker has cheated us out of payment for a load we hauled back in March. I have submitted a review on brokersnapshot he claims we were paid COD lol we have the invoice from the customer showing he was paid. I have engaged Baxter baily, Truckstop. He needs to be redflagged everywhere.

I would also suggest leaving a google review, plenty of people read those when doing background checks
 
I'd also call the receiving customer, or whomever you figure paid freight. Rattle that chain too, also see if it was booked through an online bidding platform at all, and call them as well.

Quick update i engaged Baxter Bailey and i also engaged Truck Stop and Phoenix Logistics has issued a payment. Not sure who else will see this response but is a good route to go as its better to get some payment vs none and hopefully will send a strong message when it comes to business ethics.

I was thinking about this the other day, the other thing you could have done was go after their brokers bond. Glad you got a payment, that's great.

Ohhhhh, I see. Well, something is better than nothing I guess. Don't forget to leave a good review for them too, not all carriers are on this site, but a lot will check google reviews.

I just checked under Brokersnapshot the MC's do not match but that does not mean they are not related. I believe I saw the same thing you did and that is very interesting. I am hoping this guy learned a lesson he did respond to the collection process but, as the saying goes " build a better mousetrap, build a better mouse"

You're thinking Carsons and Phoenix are the same people? ( I also saw that Carsons did operate as Phoenix at one point, but I have also found two different active MC's)

I really have no idea. I have done a few loads with Carsons as 9357-9431 and never had an issue with them as far as payment goes. Its very questionable to keep changing your company name though. Its falls under be careful i guess.
 
Yeah for sure, I don't know either. I agree though, the multiple changes of business name is concerning, also using a Canada Post drop box as your home office address.

I had no idea about any of this. I have worked with Carsons / 9357-9431 and got paid through my factoring company. I was surprised to see them in discussion too. I looked into it for a quick minute. Here is their registry for business names.

It is noted in that link that the business entity withdrew the name. Maybe the name was withdrawn because of the issues with others industry that have a similar name and maybe not a great past.

I think it would be fair to read into it if in the time frame they did not pay carrier and changed their name. When you register a business name there is a process where they have to verify other possible name matches first before they allow you to register that name. Also changing your name up to 5 times in a few years is a red flag. Especially if everyone of those names has a thread regarding non payment or collections. Again. I never had any problem with them. Does it seem likely they are all the same company.... hmmm just buyer beware.
