Thumbs down to Packers Transport and Marty.
I booked 17 skids from Toronto to Edmonton 2 weeks ago to Load Dec 14th and Packers just called to cancel due to they have too much new freight to deliver B4 Christmas.
NOT GOOD BUSINESS MARTY!

Maybe if you weren't bargaining for the cheapest truck all the time - you wouldn't have that problem.

I find that it's always good practive to have your dispatch follow up every couple of days with carriers when shipmnets are booked this far in advance.

2 weeks is a long time for my memory... :)

It's certainly never good to get a load back last minute, I do hope you got it recovered!!

I notice someone posted about 'cheap' or 'shopping', something of that nature. Not sure what difference this makes, lets be honest different carriers charge different prices for 'similar' work. Depending on the nature of what is required the price can vary (and depending on the timeline you require). This should have no impact on a carrier accepting a load and then giving it back because other 'more important' work came up. Giving back freight last minute is just bad business...

Of course the same applies to cancelling with a carrier that has just run several hundred miles... Bad business...

Keep well,

Mike
