TORONTO, Ont. -- Ontario road fatalities reached their lowest levels in the past 68 years, making the province the safest jurisdiction in North America, according to the Ontario Road Safety Annual Report (ORSAR).

Speed limiters have done little except cause more "elephant races" and if that's seen as a positive then I guess I am extremely negative!

I witness more passenger vehicles and motorcycles speeding than commercial trucks. Therefore, since we have mandatory speed limits on our roads, why does the gouvernment not enforce the same law as the commercial vehicles and set a speed limit on passenger vechicles?

Our roads are safe because of our extremely vigilant MTO!
Just the other day, they caught two fatal flaws on one of my trucks. 1 brake 1/8" over, and the driver wrote May instead of June on his first of the month logs. Without them...I would have been an accident waiting to happen.

Oh Dave. You just made my day!

About the speed limiters, a drive last summer between Toronto and Kingston proved to me what a hazard they are. Watching trucks trying to pass other trucks on that stretch of the highway and the line of 15 or so cars behind them waiting for one to beat the other was enough to provoke an incident of road rage in itself.

Exactly. They should be able to at least pass at a higher rate of speed. One guy is doing 105 and the other guy is trying to pass at the same speed. There is no "hammer down" anymore.

Smokey and the Bandit are rolling in their graves.
