I sa CVOR report same as pulling a driver's abstract for each driver?
Carriers usually pull these reports for their regular information checks, insurance requirements as well as the driver reports. The poll was aimed for brokers who use Ontario carriers - not carriers who should do this all the time.

The idea of this poll was to find out how many brokers are acquiring a CVOR while doing their due diligence to root out bad carriers. Not how many carriers are running reports.

It appears that many brokers don't know that this is a great tool to identify if the carrier they are giving a load to is properly licensed if they're based in ON. It gives the number of ON miles plus all the miles driven outside of ON. With this information you can get a feel of what kind of service the carrier normally provides.

I can now understand why brokers get mad that carriers don't read rate confirmations. Should have read the original post carefully.

I just called the MOT and they told me there was no way for a 3rd party to pull a CVOR on a carrier - please advise how we can do this - thank you!

From a broker’s perspective, there is no such thing as getting too much information about a new carrier. CVOR reports, all registration, insurance and licensing, FMCSA information, workers compensation, Google search of their internet presence and a Google map search of their physical address, reviews on sites such as Inside Transport and always a minimum of three other brokers they use regularly. There is no guarantee that even the most stringent vetting process will keep a determined rat out, but at least you know you’ve done everything you could.

Copy of a CVOR is a part of a carrier package anyway, as far as I know..
But abstract is up to you to request from MTO..
There is enough info for a whole $5 CAD ( so far)
I agree all information needs to be in Carrier package. The only way to see if carrier is legal
