National fast freight

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any feedback regarding National Fast Freight (Calyx Group Member). Can anyone attest to levels of service? Customer Service? Would anyone recommend them on a big account or would you stay away?

Any feedback would be appreciated,

We used them in the past to takes loads west for us. Everything goes by rail. Generally they did a good job, however as with all rail shipments, there are huge potentials for late or lost shipments. A few of the loads were late (not National's fault), and we had to change to road carriers.

No problems with timing of payment.
 
They used to pick up from us but where paid by a large National Retail Company, there was always issues with them. They would always look for waiting time even though it was their driver hanging out in our yard, loads where late etc etc. They switched to Trans X which is who we use for the west. They have their problems but a lot less than most.

They have dirt cheap rates.

They will break apart skids and hand load everything (even if asked not to) to maximize space... but they're cheap.

I don't use them directly... BUT I have a good customer that does. When they have shipments that need to deliver by a certain date and damage free... they use us. When it's just a regular get there when it gets there shipment they use NFF because they're cheap

With the attitude of many shippers these days... companies like these are busy... because they're cheap.

Just my two pennies...
