One does have to wonder, if the enforcement team stopped every commercial truck that passed the inspection station, how many of that total number would be taken out of service? Similar to conducting a poll, or a survey, the sample size is a very important consideration in determining the usefulness of the exercise.

From personal experience I went years without a Level 1 to the point that I walked into Vineland one morning and asked if they could do one. The answer I got was "we don't waste our time on equipment like yours". Dunno if that is direction from the top or a lazy inspector.

Heard this from an Owner Op we use in the states a lot.

He has zero inspections on his MC that is 2 years old. Screws him out of getting set up with new brokers as they always want to see an inspection or two.

He drivers a clean Peterbilt, they never inspect him and he's asked multiple DoT officers to do one and they told him they are prohibited from doing voluntary inspections and that they don't waste time on obviously well maintained vehicles.
