MCS 150 - US Dot Bi-Annual Renewal

Good day all,
just wanting to inquire if anyone else has received a really wierd phone call from the "U S DOT' telling them that have not done their biennual update and that they are to print it out and send it to either a fax number or an e-mail address in order to avoid revocation AND a fine. I believe someone is trying to steal information about companies because this doesn't sound right to me.

I got the call, but I would be willing to bet you dollars to donuts it wasn't the US DOT calling. They will send you written correspondence with their letter head on it for any pending matters. There are so many companies out there that will lead you to believe they are the DOT and then they request money or want you to renew something through a private on-line service. Don't fall for that, Martinetav. I listened to the message to the end and they prompted me to renew throught their on-line service. At that point I hung up.

I get phishing emails to the same affect.. I just ignore them. I think you're right... someone is trying to steal information.

Deceptive marketing at it worst.

There are so many of these scams out there all we can say is just be careful!

One of the worst ones out there is called DOT Compliance. That is their actual name. It can throw you for a loop if you're not paying attention.

@martinetav ... USDOT will not call you at all regarding your bi-annual update. It's your responsibility and they won't hold your hand.
In fact, the only thing USDOT will call you for is to tell you what day and time they will be stopping in to do an audit.

@chica123 ... check out their logo as well ... sure looks awful close to the government logo doesn't it? I simply blacklisted their domain so their emails don't even make it to our system.

I appreciate all this wonderful support. I had my doubts and I guess I just wanted to confirm them and at the same time , maybe let others in on this so no one gets had. I saw it more as an attempt to steal our information and our identity
