Good Morning All!

I am currently working on a massive outbound quote if anyone wants in on it send me an email @ dispatch@bklogistics.com

All Lanes are coming out of kitchener, On - they require at least 2 straps or bars. and it is food product so trailers have to be clean dry and odour free.

outbound states include. CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, TX, UT, WA, WI

As well as inner Ontario, Quebec, Out east and Out West

there is a tiny bit of Inbound as well IL and IA

Thanks

Charity @ Bk logistics :D

Count me in to do all your work for you and get nothing. Sorry but I learned many years ago that the work we put into quoting only tells the broker what a good carrier would do it for and then they sell it for the lowest price possible so we do not participate any more and the funny thing is it hasn't affected our business one little bit. Now if you want to quote a fair price and then offer me lanes at a fair rate I'm in.
Again sorry for the rant.

Unfortunately, just like You, I deal with this exact same thing on a Daily basis, Trucking is cut throat, But I still need work, Therefore I still do everything I can to try and secure freight. Hense my reason for giving this forum a shot. I also spend my Days Quoting on stuff I never see a stitch of. In the big scheme of things it comes down to service for us here, not RATE. Wish more brokers were like that.. then maybe people wouldn't right us all off, like so many do!

Lowmiler I will make you the first call. I already provided this same customer rates - if they like them great. If not, they will call on one of the many other people quoting on this same freight........

I have also been offered to quote it direct and thru BK. I have worked with BK there Lowmiller and they are a company I hold in high regard the same as yourself. But everyone is right and I know the broker who used to have this freight and they are looking for drop your pants rates on the freight. So I have chosen not to waste alot of tome on it.

You know... I ask for help from carriers all the time when quoting. Especially in a volatile lane (Chicago, anytown Tennessee a few months ago, etc.)

On something like this you'd earn you money more by picking up the phone to your top five carriers and asking what they need per mile on lane 0 - 500 mi / 500 - 1000 mi / 1000 - 1500 / 1500 + then do the math yourself. be sensible and bump up the cash on those ugly destinations where a carrier will need to deadhead for a back haul. And on the other side of the coin you can be a bit thinner on those lanes that are more popular.

At least that's how I'd approach it. Who know's it just may help you to understand what the grass is like on the other side.

Just sayin'...

So then I get nosy and see if I can find out more about BK Logistics.

You're part of Keith Hall Transport? A pretty reputable carrier.

And you can't rate this in house?

Really ???

yes we Are part of Keith Hall. :) Some Lanes we can quote in house, others we just don't have the availablity to service like we would like. So I've sent an Email off to some of my guys I rely on to help me out. But they don't go everywhere either :). So I thought I'd switch it up a little, most people on this site seem to have similar ideals as us over here. Just thought I'd try to extend our branches a little, and make some new Contacts!! You never Know, I figured it was worth a shot!!

Game, Set, and Match!

Giving a potential customer rates on a massive blanket quote like this is problematic if they they cannot provide a realistic shipping schedule. One that gives the frequency to or from each point, size, transit time, appointment requirements, etc. Try asking for one when they ask you to quote. You will more than likely draw a blank. Without one, you'll wind up trying to give them a rate for every potential scenario. Then it goes to their sales people in the form of a lowest rate from multiple sources catalog, as a sales aid. If you try a response like "the rate for any point will be 2% lower than the lowest quote you've received.", it won't be favorably received because it provides only what they asked and not what they are really looking for.

I think a lot of us on here saw this quote direct from the shipper as well...if its the same one I'm thinking of the fine print told me that it was just a bid to get numbers for their new corporate parent and that more than 80 percent of the lanes in the bid were actually customer pickup. Am I wrong, or thinking about the wrong one.
