People, talk to me about Maple Gate. Scenario
Dispatching brokers under the brokers insurance and authorities which I might add is not provided prior to dispatch.

Does anyone know if they have even one truck of their own?

check them out on safer web site tells you the story same as CSA

SAFER Web - Company Snapshot

I did. If you mean they have a broker authority as well as an UNUSED CONTRACT CARRIER AUTHORITY that should answer my question. It does.

However, I would like to know if anyone has actually seen any of their equipment as well as used their equipment.

I didn't think they had trucks. If they have an unused carrier authority, it may be to tell Link and anyone else who might be a potential customer that they are a carrier and go after freight. I always thought they were a broker.

The most telling sign is when you go to their website. Check the employment tab. What kind of carrier doesn't hire drivers or mention it on their website? They're hiring only load broker people.

I say someone should e-mail them and ask if they're hiring drivers. Then point out that looking at their website, they say they have a "fleet." Well, a "logistical fleet."

I say they probably have one truck parked somewhere that doesn't move an inch.

Well, I'll be dipped in chocolate.

Just called them and asked if they're hiring any drivers. I was told they might be. He asked if I wanted to be a o/o or drive a straight truck and said they have a few trucks that run California and BC, plus a few that do city work. Mind you, the guy I talked to was from the broker side and got him afterhours but said he thinks there's 12 trucks. Said Kyle is the guy who manages that end of things.

Who would have thunk it.

I have seen a few trailers lettered up with their name pass by my yard on a couple occasions.

They definitely have trucks but they're better known as a broker. And I believe they do run things sort of along the same line as CSA ... which is to say I'm not a fan.

As I understand it, they do their own pick up and deliveries in the city and then use agents to deliver AB and BC. Then the trucks run south to CA and pick up the LTL shipments their agents there have picked up for them. We have used them for years when George was there and never had any issues with them. Did a great job for us for a good rate. I don't know what they are doing now as we don't do as much as we used too. Hope that helps!

Maple Gate

Deal with these people at your own risk, they are classic "invoice clippers".

If there's an avalanche and the truck is delayed for a day you will be lucky to get 50% of what they owe you. Why bother with these people? Carriers should avoid them like the plague.

For what its worth, done 3 loads with them. One in '10, one in '11, one in '12.
Average DSO 55 days. no rate adjustments. Don't remember anything about any of the loads really...kind of a non issue.
