Maple Gate Freight - Mississauga, ON

Alert! Related to Maple Gate Freight Systems Inc. & Maple Gate Logistics. Earlier today we got an email from them, signed by John Stanley, advising that company/ies no longer running and winding down.

Currently, we got several unpaid invoices for consolidated trailers moved by our clients to and from California. That is over 40 LTL shipments that we are seeking payments for. All subject to the period of November 2017.

Our intentions are to proceed with collections relying on BOL Act. If any of brokers on this forum have dealt and continue dealing with Maple Gates and are related to any California and surrounding areas LTL shipments subject to period of November 2017, be on alert that we are seeking payments.

According to John Stanley of Maple Gate, he advised today that it is only the logistics end of Maple Gate that is shutting down, the carrier operation continues as always.

I want to thank my peers for pointing out the misinformation circulating about Maple Gate. We are not shutting down or closing. In fact we are growing and business is amazing. Thank you to those of you that made that happen. We have decided to not run our California operation any more. It just doesn't make money and is a great deal of work. Sadly we are in disagreement with a factoring company over 3 invoices. We are willing to pay and simply would like some relief on the charges due to extremely poor service. Instead of negotiating, they have erroneously reported what they have. I look forward to our continued relationship with all of you, and feel free to call me anytime

Strange question and perhaps none of my business, why would you negotiate with a factoring company, they did not perform carriage for you? If you have terms that allow for discounts to apply for 'extremely poor service', apply those terms against the carrier you contracted and inform the factor to speak to their client.
Business change their focus from time to time or expand their service offering to suit the direction the company is going, haven't most members done this over the years??
Here's hoping that you and your transporting carrier come to a new mutually agreeable conclusion to the issue, in economy's defence, they are simply trying to collect on an invoice they factored, they are just doing their job.

Keep well, smile, spring is coming this weekend!

Thanks Mike, I appreciate you having me see this from a different point of view. All I was looking for was a bit of good will or even an apology.. It takes a big man to admit they made a mistake. And, all things considered it appears as though I took the wrong course of action. I have learned a lot today

Here's hoping that you and the carrier can hammer out a new mutually agreeable deal. It always sucks when a business relationship falls apart because two parties are not on the same page. It's of course an opportunity for you to find a stronger partner for future business though.

Happy Friday, I do hope this all works out,
Mike
