Luke Trans - Vegreville

Has anybody else had experience with Luke Trans out of Vegreville, AB? After months of negotiations, including repeated opportunities to revise pricing, with them and a client we are five weeks into a project and they have decided they can't handle it and demanded a minimum 30% rate increase to continue. No change in operational requirements; loading times are right on what was negotiated, fee for drop trailers is being paid, etc etc. The owner, Luke, last week agreed to continue until end of this week and now they have even dropped that and are telling us tomorrow is their last load. two more to go for thurs/fri.

Would love to hear other experiences with them to see if this is a pattern or one-off.

That's quite the negotiating tactic on their part.. "we can't do the job but we need 30% more money". I'll bet that inspires confidence.

My guess is that they realized they were losing money on whatever it was they have been doing for you ...

It actually happens quite a bit with smaller and/or newer companies. They quote too low in RFP/RFQ/Bids to get the business and then find out after the movements start happening that they are losing money on the moves. So might not be a tactic...might be inexperience.

Cheaper not always better as I'm sure you know . They tried to bill me 29 extra hours on hourly work they did in a 24 hr period LOL . I do a lot of projects which involve appt times etc . I tend to pass on them for time sensitive moves
