No an easy one, but trying to help out a good client who is stuck at a cost. Pick up in Montreal going to South Elgin, IL Dry Van or Flat bed

6 feet X 12 Feet 99 inchs tall 21,000 pounds. I know I can move a FTL on a Dry Van at $1400-1500 I need to do this cheaper. Before anyone says anything about cheap freight, they will not move it unless they can afford it so I am throwing it out there to see who can help and who needs to get to Illinois.

From what I am being told by a few carriers is that its to heavy to for one piece.

Surprised. We move 3000 lbs skids for one client and don't run into that issue. How much are you trying to move it for?

From the size and weight you describe, it should go on a flatbed. You would need one big-assed forklift to put that on a van, plus the forklift would have to be able to fit inside the van when loading.

they drive the fork lift on, then remove the fuel tank. And at the receiver they put a tank back on and drive it off

At 21000 lbs you need at least 1/2 a trailer to be axle legal. Now you need 99 inches clearance. then you gotta secure it from movement. Better to go on a flatbed or stepdeck.

Most van carriers won't move forklifts on their equipment..This is flatbed freight but your costumer is not paying enough.Tell them to take a portion of their profits(Which I'm sure are good) and move this the proper way. MY 2 CENTS.

I agree with Michael K in that as a van carrier, we would not very likely allow such a heavy piece of equipment to be loaded on one of our vans. I have never loaded 1 piece of 21000 pound anything on a van. Another point would be in a van, I don't think it can be adequately secured to make it safe.

Thats what I told them. I am guessing a flat bed would be around $1500 for something like this LTL? Correct if I am wrong.

I haul forklifts on a regular basis in my vans as we have chain tie downs in our trailers but that thing is to big in too small of an area to be in a van trailer. To much risk of trailer breaking in half unless it is tail loaded right over rear bogies and even then I would be afraid of the trailer.

Cost would be anywhere from $1500 to $1800 on a flat. All depending on what they could match with it.
