Hi -
Wanted to understand if I was wrong - what is standard

On Monday accepted a load for PU Thursday - back and forth Monday about Rate / PU and Del times - all set and wiating for Rate Con - ssured load was mine
On Tuesday morning get a call asking if I can lower rate - I declined and so agreed load is still mine - rate con to follow
On Wednesday 12:00noon I get rate con - nothing all day Tuesday till Wednesday noon -

I wiaited till 10:00am Wednesday and then covered my Thursday truck - when rate con came I apologised and emailed back saying truck was covered

What is the accepted wait time??? I do not have time to call and keep asking for a rate con - I need to inform my drivers of the plan as well as they need to be ready
What do you guys do?
thanks...

The broker probably still had it posted and strung you along as long as possible to see if they could find a cheaper truck and end of day the day before decided you where the cheapest game in town so they sent the load con. Just guessing but would put a buck on it saying I am correct.

You lasted a whole lot longer than most would. If I did not see it in a couple hours I would be looking.

If there was a legitimate delay on the part of the shipper (waiting for parts, waiting for payment, last minute testing not yet complete, etc., etc) then the broker should have relayed that information to you and then you could have decided whether to hang in and hope the load does materialize, or search out some other option. Without knowing why the broker delayed so long in sending the load confirmation, we can only speculate about his intentions, good, bad or indifferent. Certainly a couple of hours is long enough to wait without any additional information offered.

They emailed me - I didn't even call for it...

I make sure my carriers receive a load con and my broker docs within 30 minutes of booking the load. I then give them a couple of hours to respond with a signed confirmation and any carrier details required if setup is required. After two hours I call the carrier to remind them to send me their packet and the load con.. if nothing is received within an hour I assume the carrier no longer has an interest in the load, and I move on. In my experience it never ever works out to wait any longer..

Just a dollar ??? ... Dude, that one's golden. Bet all you got on that ... LOL

I'm shocked you waited as long as you did. I recall many a time sending load cons the moment a load was booked with a verbal AND written understanding that we still had to book a pickup apt, confrim the customs broker, etc...

No load con you are free to book your truck anywhere else. It's why we ensured an order was in the system before dispatch was allowed to try and book a truck on it. No idea if they are doing that anymore.

Keep well,
Mike

I guess not - and I know it was a day away ... that is why I waited ... but still two days to build an order in the system!!!

30 mins, if we dont have a confirmation the load is considered not good. Especially with US brokers, we've been burned too many times with the "just waiting on the tender" and " waiting on the pickup delivery appt". Of course, if we have a good relationship we have even waited till the next day but if it's a random broker then 30 mins if our time limit.

It did happened to me in the past - on a broker perspective, not being able to send a load tender as I was missing details and I don't like to send 25 revised - BUT, I sent an email to the carrier confirming everything, kept in touch with him for 2 days ( about 4-5 times a day ) to assure it was still confirmed. Once I had everything, I sent the tender. But, I kept my carrier advised all along....some brokers doesn't care about their carriers....which is sad and pathetic. IMO

All boils down to communication. I've done the same in the past many times. Just telling them that I can send them what I have now and then send a revised, or just wait until I have everything confirmed and just send 1 complete confirmation. Most carriers who you work with on a regular basis will just say when you have everything just send me the complete confirmation. Already get/send enough emails throughout the day so if you can save a few, why not?

Communication is key....just like that pesky reply-all button.
