Across Canada, some trucking companies are exploiting the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) process, a system meant to help employers hire foreign workers when local labor isn’t available. While the trucking industry faces a genuine driver shortage, fraudulent companies abuse this program by offering fake or exaggerated job opportunities. Desperate immigrants, hoping for a chance to work and settle in Canada, are often charged illegal fees—sometimes $25,000 to $60,000—for promised LMIA-approved jobs. Too often, these jobs either don’t exist, or workers arrive to face low pay, unsafe conditions, and long hours. This scam not only harms vulnerable people but also undermines legitimate businesses. Stay cautious: research companies thoroughly, avoid upfront payments, and report suspicious offers to authorities.

Mention Company names that you are aware of !

Below is a link of the companies that have had penalties assessed against them in regard to noncompliance with the LMIA program. Slightly over 1000 at this time which just shows how rampant this issue is. Just imagine if CRA did more enforcement or audit. Although a lot are food preparation locations, every page has a couple logistics or trucking companies.
Here is one example:
Samhil Logistics Inc.Samhil Logistics Inc.7A-100 Kennedy Road South
Brampton, ON
L6W 3E7
2024-12-16$100,000 and a 10-year banIneligible until December 16, 2035

This is mostly the thing of the past when international students were desperate and were willing to do anything to get permanent residency.

@Rob from a source perspective - it's listed and pulled from the government info, which I'm not here to debate the validity of the source.

But if you're looking for the dot on the farm, its not going to appear. Go check 59 South of Milldale. 2 dots, bunch farms, you'll know the names.

@BPOVFB yep know them but should be one around corner on Otterville Rd a bunch on Baseline heck all over there is a pile of market garden farmers, tobacco and ginseng guys in the area that bring in labour every year and have for years. Maybe the map is just since this program started and the guys been doing it 30 years or so are not on the list no idea. Cool map none the less the list of fines is way more interesting to me.

Here is the snapshot of companies with approved LMIA in Q3, 2024.

If they sell 1 LMIA for $30,000. How much money they made from LMIA only in Q3, 2024

The game plan has always been for every LMIA you sell for $30k-$50k, put that as a down payment on a truck/trailer and the whole gig pays for itself. Once the units are close to being paid off they stop paying the driver and try not to go through with their end of the LMIA. Rinse and repeat. That's how all these big fleets from Brampton popped up in the last 7-8 years. This is also why drivers protest at company owners houses in Brampton.
