Probably the vacuum sucker they use to unload was not powerful enough, eh..How about a load of sunflower seeds. They didn't tell us that they just load them with a conveyor. 3 years later, that trailer was still shaking seeds out of the logistic posts. Too bad they weren't roasted and salted.
Unfortunately, you are absolutely correct. Rates will go down as long as there are carriers willing to accept it. We are hearing from our existing customers that they are receiving lower rates from both brokers and carriers. Long term relationships and excellent service are wonderful things but the “rubber hits the road” when it comes to the rate. My crystal ball is not as clear as it once was, but I think we are in for an extended period of depressed freight rates and lower volumes. It might be time to keep your customers close and your overhead down.TQL is always the Winner. $550 from Columbus to Burlington and then when we say too low. they say we have been covering these 3-4 times a week. Well in the end every carrier has its own math I guess and that's why we see them covered
IMHO this is just a pressure tactic some big bix brokers use .... if they cover them for that much everyweek why is it not moving now?TQL is always the Winner. $550 from Columbus to Burlington and then when we say too low. they say we have been covering these 3-4 times a week. Customer just told me my rate was to high...They could get it done for $3600 with TQL.... I told them to go ahead...I'm not playing who can be the cheapest....
FTL Toronto to Los Angeles........$3600...that's 1.43/mile... really!!!
Still lots of guys going out for that or less from my understanding 3-3400 is the Cali outbound number. Cheap you bet but blame the guys running the lane not the shippers. Can't bring back your 15k consolidated load back if you can't get trucks out there. Not defending the rate, but that was the rate say 10 years ago....
Had the honor of being offered a load for a 'special rate' since we are a 'preffered carrier' -
AB - MI .... approx. $1.00/mile .... and that's if I cross Lake Michigan ... taking the scenic route underwater

Maybe they were thinking you’er an ocean carrier? You couldn’t move that via rail at that rateHow about a full load Vancouver to Halifax 4500
