Any feedback on this 3rd party company? Presented with a rate of $0.99 cents per mile to run CALIFORNIA?

OMG...and now they have approached us to pay $1.35 to FL and $1.15 to IA....ok is there really a carrier(s) out there doing this?

what is the point of quoting a customer lowball rates to get an account and then not be able to move the freight or have to move with less than reputable carriers? Doesn't that just make you look unprofessional? (kind of rhetorical question!! LOL)

Darn, I was just working out how to get my cost per mile down low enough to move these and only lose $300-500 per load. Like stop paying insurance, no more maitenence on the trailers, stop paying fuel tax and plates and get my O/O's to run for .50 a mile. Now you tell me they need reefers. Would a dry van in the winter months be okay?

Are these reefer loads that they are trying to move outbounds? I think I've been approached on these too.

Pull a "MacKinnon" and you'll be able to haul those loads for that and less!

Yes, these are outbound loads to the USA,,,,,,not all FTL.....they also are going to incorporate 1 other shippers LTL frozen products....then ask the carriers to rework all the different orders to accomodate the way in which Lakeside wants it delivered (yes Lakeside wants to be in control of the appts) ...forgetting about crazy appt times from one receiver to another.. due dates, HOS, delays, FDA, compliance...what an insult. ok Merry Christmas All.....Cheers!

yep...indeed. I'm very familiar with this....
So far no one has responded to the rates that I submitted. I am assuming that is not because they were too low!

newsflash......I'm apparently a "backup carrier"....
Oh joy, o bliss....

Does this mean that when the carriers that can't maintain their fleet (mechanically), can't keep drivers and certainly do not maintain all paperwork in house in good order can't 'come through', you'll get the call and be asked to do it for the rates provided by the competition?

It's your lucky day!! Better buy a LottoMax!! :)

Drive safe all, pretty nasty outside my window...

Keep well,

Mike

Keep in mind that posted rates are (for some people) more of a wish than what they expect to have it hauled for. Propose a reasonable rate of your own and it might be accepted.

Some shippers also play games. They will tender the same cheap load out to 15 brokers, and each broker will simply put it on the boards...and none of them really cares if it moves or not. I purposely don't work with those anymore because I'm tired of having carriers call on posted loads that were covered days ago.

There are some very reputable 3rd party brokers and some very reputable asset based trucking firms that pay fair market rate for services......then there are some as in Lakeside who insult us....but then again, they are backed up by insulting carriers who will work for $1.50 per mile all in.......reefer loads at that. What a sad state these carriers have supported.

In this case, I know for sure that Lakeside was trying to land the customer for years -- the customer went to RFP (I participated) and after everything they decided to 3PL to Lakeside. With those rates, no wonder ...

What I will do and what everyone else should do is stand pat with what you did ... and when the customer needs help, we'll get it done.
