Seen this headline before ? Or Owner Operators wanted.
There is something you should know before you consider this company: OvertheRoad Transportation Inc. out of Mississauga On.
The owner is Richard Meyers their # 905 564 2626
he sometime puts his cell phone number also 416-676-4950
They advertise here all year long - even when everybody else has no freight. They take 25%, they won't tell you the rates till you are back to Toronto, then you find out you made no money, if you move on they won't pay you.
I did one trip for them June of 2008. 7200 miles 27 stops $6200.00 in fuel. they said they would take care of Customs. Outbound 2 out of 10 entries not in. 5 hours at the border. inbound 2 out of 10 entries not in 7 hours at the border.the grand total to me was 9041.25.When I got back I talked to Richard and told him that it wasn't for me, at that time nobody had a problem with anything. By the way just to see how bad the rates were I did a west coast trip on my own - only 12 stops and still had 30 ft of trailer left when I left Salt Lake on Friday afternoon and I got over 16k. This company doesn't care about rates they will undercut anybody ( remember they won't tell you the rates till you get back to Toronto) cause they do just fine with the 25% but they can't even get you the entry numbers for customs - cause it's not them sitting at the border when it's not done right. I even asked them 3 times if they checked with the brokers if everything was good to cross.
they were supposed to pay every 2 weeks (like they advertise here).First they forgot my address, then they sent me a post dated cheque 90 days. When I asked him why the post dated cheque - he replied that I signed off incorrectly on the BOL's. ( It was running under my own authority and the customer wrote down my truck info ie company name which they have the right to do.) and he said that I tried to get his customers -which is a laugh. Well - Guess what- the cheque bounced. Then I got promises that everything would be paid by Oct, which of course was a lie.
He sent 3 post dated cheques of 1000.00 each dated Oct and Nov. then nothing but excuses again till Feb then 4 post dated cheques of 500.00. each
nothing since. So I never even got my fuel paid. Found out he changed Banks 2 times allready (wonder why?)
I don't think you want to get involved with a company like that.

Richard -- If you read this --- Send me my money!!! 5k and I will take these ads down. And by the way I can proof everything I said here.
If you want to keep ignoring me - I'm just getting started, I told you I was going to make you my new Hobby!
I'll move on to blogs forums etc, I will get you to the first page of Google as "Ripoff Trucking company"
 
This company is absolutely horrible - their business conduct is appalling. Not just from an accounting perspective (unpaid invoices, post dated cheques, invoice deductions etc.) - they are horrible to drivers, mechanics and vendors. I don't know how Richard is still in business. Know a few people that either drove for him or did repairs to his trucks - were never paid. His driver turn around is 2 weeks apparently which is a pay period...coincidence?

Allinone - unfortunately you were not aware at the time what Richard was all about. I hope with your posts - you are able to spread the word about him and prevent your scenario from happening to someone else. He needs to be shut down for good....
 
Heard lots of issues with him paying his drivers. Have had lots of issues getting paid as well, had to send one of my "big" drivers in there to pick up cheque.
Can believe they are still around, get the word out need to get rid of the scum.
 
It's not my post, but I figured I would help the O/O spread his word. I do know Richard and his incredibly ignorant business ways and would never knowingly deal with the gluebag.
 
It still amazes me that these douche bags seem to always be in business. It's a shame that these moral midgets aren't dealt with for taking advantage of drivers trying to make a living. I wonder what would happen if someone took advantage of them....

How can we shut him down for good? He is still running his business and scamming people.

I can't get over this guy and his business practices. The same stories over and over one unsuspecting O/O after another.

I mean it's one thing for a company to fall on hard times and go under and yes carriers, O/O's and others get burned... but this seems to be this guys business model.

Hard to believe that someone hasn't taken the law into their own hands.

That is part of the problem Richard counts on people not wasting their time persuing their money, because they have wasted so much time trying to deal with him. I have wasted so much time, how can I walk away now?
