Received this email today from another carrier

Good morning everyone. Just letting you know to stay away from KBT out of Brampton Ontario. They hold freight hostage demanding more money or they will not deliver your freight. They do not pay their bills and then even when one goes to their office to collect they give you a postdated check short paid and say that one should be happy with something as opposed to nothing. People like this do not belong in our industry.

There have been other posts on this company in the past. This just solidifies those other comments. This email went around to many carriers/brokers....some of you may have already received it.

They are showing on Link as active can we not do a group complaint to link? Everyone should forward the letter to Link.

I spoke to Link when KBT screwed me over and they basically told me it was a legal matter and they would not get involved. As far as I'm concerned Link is there for one thing...our money. They don't give a crap who it comes from so long as they get it and what are we going to do about it they are the only ones who provide the type of service that they do.

I had a dealing with them about two years ago where they double brokered my freight, then took off the railing at the receiver AND had damaged the freight. After claiming them modestly for only the repairs and damages, I received over 20 calls in a period of a year threatening my life and various other threats.

It got the point where I ended up laughing at them and told them I would love for them to meet me at 22 Div. and I never heard from them again.

This company used to be ABC Action from what I recall and did the same thing there. While I firmly believe carriers like this ( they are not a broker actually ) should not exist, it is more important that we figure out who they are going to be next as I can assure you they will open up under another name and continue their games.

I will be more than willing to lodge a complaint to LINK if required. LINK has a responsibility when people are being threatened and it is one of their users, to have them banned from the site. Another option is for everyone to do a group post at the same time in the comments section stating not to use them. It would no doubt get the industries attention and you can't ban all of us for posting that.

Friendly Broker,

You are right, Link SHOULD have a responsibility but they don't feel they do. I had that argument with them because they told me it was a legal issue and they could not get involved. Told me to block them, I asked how this helps the next person...she didn't have an answer. So long as someone pays the bill that is all they care about.
Where in Link can we do a group post?? I have not seen this option.

Wouldn't be a group post.. it would almost be like a strike where we all agree to post the same info in the comments of a specific lane..
ie. they run toronto to california...

if a bunch of brokers and carriers all post at the same time the same info... people will notice it and rumours will fly !.. .I am just not sure how Link will respond to something like this.

We had a problem with KBT and holding our freight for more money. We were able to get the link to shut off their account until they delivered the freight.

I'd like to know how you managed that. Anytime I have tried to ask Link for their help they tell me it is a legal issue and they do not get involved. How do you know they shut off KBT's access to the Link???

We talked to the Link and they said they had received similar complaints in the past. The only reason we know they shut it off is because KBT called us begging us to get them to turn it back on.

wish i'd been on here a year ago...1729822 Ontairo Inc. dba/ KBT, did not know they were on the link.. they do not pay, and when asking for payment, he told me to "take to collections, could care less".

KBT and Link Logistics

After going back and reading the posts in this thread regarding the apparent unwillingness of Link Logistics to block or deny service to the likes of KBT or others about whom numerous complaints have been made - there's a compelling reason for them not to do so.

They have been embroiled in litigation as co-defendants with Hub Group against Normerica, Normerica claiming that Hub and Link wrongfully conspired “…to prevent or lessen unduly competition…” contrary to the provisions of the Competition Act, R.S.C. 1985 c. C-34.

Here is a link to the motion record of Link and Hub.

This will probably explain why Link is a little gun-shy about denial of service.

just a note about KBT as well... we received a couple calls from them and a fax over the weekend... it came from the phone and fax numbers for Silver Star Transportation, ph (905)676-8400 & fax (905)676-8401. May want to stay away from them as well!

KBT - the saga vs Link

Hello -

It is my understanding, and my experience, that if a carrier or a broker has had 3 substantiated complaints against the company, Link will revoke their access to the system. The company name remains in the carrier database for the purpose of contact info should the rest of the members still require it (and for history - something I have used in the past as well), but they cannot post or review freight available. Always double check "when last connected" before jumping to conclusions.

Should you have a valid complaint - email: complaints@linklogi.com I know for a fact that they take this very seriously - and listen - as it is their goal to be an amazing company and be an amazing supplier.

I have had Load Surfer call us - I didn't feel confident by the initial contact over the phone, and choose to stay with the majority on Link - agreeing with Scamchaser on this point.

And no - I don't work for Link - but I have long and established relationships with some of the people who do work there. I admire and respect the system that they developed and have maintained in my 17 plus years in the industry. So let them know - help them make their system work for us. There are also branches of the RCMP, OPP and city police forces that also deal with carrier fraud as well - let them know too!

It is up to us as an industry to weed out the bad people. We all know them - like KBT and Avtar - keep him out, as well as his friends. Be proud of who and what you are - know who your true friends are - as they are your real customers and suppliers. Be proud to get through the current economic puzzle with your head held high.

And I am getting off my soapbox now.

Transcore Link Logistics is the worst band of lying thieves I've ever come across. They continue to allow brokers and carriers who don't pay their bills to continue posting their loads, as long as Link gets paid. They are screwing every one of us hard working trucking people on a daily basis just to keep another 10 or 20 grand a month coming in from these unscrupulous p***** that don't pay their bills to the trucker. They must have 100 complaints about Allegro, they've been to court 29 times!!!!!! Yet some poor guy who doesn't pay Link for D&B or Equifax is going to get stiffed by Allegro or some other deadbeat. Link you are bloodsucking bottomfeaders, with your "Yearly membership" fees, the only way you cut non-paying brokers off is if they don't pay you.

I can see the frustration in Gord's comments and I think alot of people may agree with him. This is why I like this forum because it informs me on these dead beat companies which I don't deal with. As for Link allowing them to stay on thats up to them as for me a sheep I like to know where the wolf is hiding at all times. We will always find customers who don't pay their bills but knowing who doesn't that's what is important. As long as they keep the same name, address and phone #'s we know where they are. Its best to know where your enemies are than to force them into hiding.

It is my understanding and past experience that Link's policy is 3 complaints received - the delinquent is contacted - if the issue is not resolved - cut off from their services.

I have noted in past posts that I have had a few issues with brokers not paying. I contacted Link - made the complaint (professional manner/sticking to the points) and received a resolution. The brokers paid us due to their service halted - they continued on with Link after paying - we set their account to inactive and added to the DNU list.

If the delinquent does pay and later resolves the issue - their account goes back to active on Link. In the case of Allegro and other brokers out there we are all too familiar with - if they resolve the complaint - they continue with Link service. I find it hard to believe that Link would keep a broker on with many many complaints - when my few issues were resolved and handled in a timely manner.

Deciding on whether to extend credit to a company based on reports (manual/D&B/Equifax) done on YOUR OWN END is the first step in "policing" your potential receivable. You cannot blame Link or anyone else for that matter if you gave credit to a company like Allegro and are still waiting after 6 months to be paid. You may have been "introduced" to the delinquent thru Link. But in the end - you were the one to shake their hand - take on the new business and cross your fingers that all would go well....

Has anybody noticed all of the shippers that are now using the Link?? Since they dont have to ask for a load brokers certificate anymore, I guess its pretty easy for shippers to get onto the board now
