Deadline for getting them out to carriers is end of January. IRS summary and copies to states due by early March. Anyone file with the IRS electronically?

It is my understanding of reading the info on the IRS website, that form 1099 is only applicable if you made payments to an unincorporated, independent contractor, not an incorporated transportation company. In over 25 years of operation, we have never received a request to submit this form and we deal with many US transportation companies, but no independent contractors.
