I would like your input on this.

My response again

It seems there are a wide range of "Right " things to have done on this shipment. It would be interesting to know how many carriers responded and which way they leaned.

I have done what I thought was Right for our company, and in the long term that is all that matters. I live by my decisons and accept blame or praise. The bottom line is we recieved our payment for our services.

Over the years we have many non payments from both Brokers and Carriers, that said they would pay over similiar situations and didnt.

We dont need any more experiance working for free.

I would rather be called unethical and make sure we do get paid then the opposite.

Thats my 2 cents

Broker forgot to give the carrier all the details so the blame lies there. If a truck is booked from Quebec to Chicago 24 skids (12 destined for Toronto and 12 for Chicago) - the carrier rates it knowing that he can add revenue in Toronto and may decide to accept the low rate to get the unit rolling but you can't take that opportunity away from him for $50 once he hits Toronto and has no choice in accepting the load or not.

Broker should have offered up the difference in revenue. I'm guessing $300 and the demand for payment probably wouldn't have happened and the carrier & customer would be happy with a cheap lesson learned.
