I-Way Transport

I saw on another thread somebody said something about i-way possibly rebranding or closing and drivers applying elsewhere.

Is there anymore information about this?

Iway for us has been good but they only started getting good when we gave them more volume...

They take more than they can handle and will push 1 off loads.

But now that we have a good relationship, zero issues and they always answer.

They deliver a lot of IML to our warehouse for one of our clients - drivers are absolutely horrible. Can't back up, can't drive straight, can't communicate, don't follow instructions. I'd be super hesitant to rely on them for freight I tendered- hoping for good luck is never a good long term business strategy.

They will take a over the road load and put it on the choo choo without advising and will have numerous lies about mechanical issues and such. They are DNU for ever on our side.

I can't confirm they did this but my BC to ON load took longer than intermodal. It had a drop along the way so I suspect it was split up and moved as two partials. I warned Ops about this before booking and the transit time was embarrassing

They would probably be a decent option for Western freight if they would just stop pretending that they move it OTR and just be open about 90% of it moves by rail. The energy they must spend telling the same 'breakdown/weather/log book' excuses for late freight must take up half their time. Just say its going IMDL, here's the slightly cheaper rate and no one with bother you (within reason). For some reason they just cant be honest, so we had to cut them off a while back.

I find they are competitive going to Winnipeg, beyond that there are real OTR carriers that have better rates, nevermind the rates you can get from carriers that are honest about moving IMDL. I used to use them alot when they were first starting out but then the level of service started dropping. Honesty is more important than cheap rates.

They are slow and not always accurate but. they do deliver and never a damage claim

There's a report that just got posted on Carrier411 on them:

WE HAVE HAD TWO VERY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES WITH I-WAY, INVOLVING CONFIRMED BACK SOLICITATION OF CLIENTS. THIS BEHAVIOR WAS DOCUMENTED IN AN EMAIL EXCHANGE AND RAISED SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT TRUST AND BUSINESS ETHICS WITH I-WAY. CARRIER IS DNU.

Where the is smoke there is fire...

I am going to add a note in our system to be careful with them now. We use them a fair bit
