Do you need a special license to haul beer and liquor in and out of the US?

Pennsylvania used to have a licensing requirement for beer/alcohol transport. I believe there were other jurisdictions also.

I believe the following is still in effect

In Canada, to haul beer - no special permit
To haul booze, you need excise bond permit

Alcohol permits are required in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts. I'm sure others as well (those are just the states that I have experience with).

Check with a carrier like GZL or Challenger (if you have a relationship with either one) I know that they pull for some breweries.
