We haul auto parts for Ford through Landstar, we would like to see what Chrysler and GM have in the way of cross border loads. Does anyone know how to get set up to haul for Chrysler or GM? Or who handles thier "last minute" loads. We only have 41 trucks so we are looking for a nibble now and then, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Gord,

I know this. You still go through NLM/Landstar. The problem with Landstar is that they have different insurance requirements than NLM and you have to jump through some different hoops with NLM (now known as Landstar Capacity Plus.) It's all done out of Detroit. You bid on loads and then they award them. You accept them and then update their site with P&D info. If I remember right, you have to be approved for each tier of business. Here's the contact coordinates:

NLM - Premium Freight Management (Production Site)

Be aware that they will sometimes even call you up and offer loads if they're in a pinch. Be prepared to be flexible with prices - sometimes you win at great rates, other times, you'll be asked to match another rate if they're not comfortable with another bidding carrier.

Good luck!
