Broker to Carrier translation- Cheapest Rate wins

That has to be one of my most annoying pet peeves. What's your best rate? My best rate is the one I quote you.

When I am asked "Is that your best rate?" I reply "No, my best rate is $45,679.99"

LOL at My Trucks :D

Purolator Freight (Those dirty so and so's) are famous for saying that.

I hate the phrase "Your best price"

I hate the phrase "Moving forward"

I hate the phrase "Thinking outside the box"

For the record... I've started thinking inside the box because too many people are thinking outside of it.

Chris, did you try ITS in Belleville or Cooney? I'd suggest anyone based out that way. Unless the party paying the charges is an ITS account or also bidding on it, you would be further ahead to negotiate with a carrier based there for the best price.

Best price or right price for the right service.

I try and keep my comments to myself on the phone when I get the is that your best price on the phone, but the odd time someone get's me upset and I bite back. Yes that is my best price if you want it done cheaper give it to the cheapest carrier who will probably sell it off to someone else and then never pay them and your shipment might get there on time or might not or that cheaper guy might not even have the proper running authorities or insurance...this is the reality people.

I use to say cause we run Montreal you want it done cheaper call Brymag, now I say too bad no Brymag but look what happened to them moving the freight at that cheap price!

Cheapest price = lowest cost

I'm not sure the above statement is correct. It may seem at the outset, but on the long run the term should be :

Lowest cost = cheapest responsible bid.

As Derek's Diva states , the lowest bidder may not have any intention of actually delivering the freight, they may be looking to re broker it, or grabbing it to fill an ltl trailer with no intent on meeting deadlines.

A reputable carrier, will charge more for his service. He / she will follow through with the service.

With the way the inbound freight situation is, reputable carriers will be showing loyalty to the freight brokers and Carriers that have been supporting them through the last 18 months.

We have been receiving lots of calls for inbound LTL from originators (greedy carriers & Freight brokers)that would ask us to bid on their freight only a few weeks ago. Thankfully, we now have the pleasure of telling them that our trucks are full.

I think we will be good for a rate adjustment by the end of next month!!
