Good To Do Work For

I Do A Little Work For Them Helping Them Out When They Get Back Up On P&d's In Ontario. I Think They Are One Of The Good Guys Who Actually Pay There Bills In 30-45 Days Tops. I Find Avi To Be A Straight Shooter.

east west

avi is a good guy, all my experiences with them have been good.consolidates west coast canada freight and pays his bills...
johnny can be a bit of a pain in the ass but he will too be ok when he gets a little trucking experience under his butt.

Terrible experiences

always late and lie, lie, lie ( Johnny ) - Intermodal not OTR
On our DO NOT USE list

EAsT-West BAD

Used them for a tri-axle load west Johnny was the one who took it. Sent the dispatch over at 62000lbs not sure what the weight would be. He called after it was loaded and advised me the load was 65000lbs even though the b/l was 59500lbs. He said he could still do it but i would have to pay more. I advised he should bring it to me i would break the seal and strip it, he could then weigh the unit and we would see where the weight discrepency was. I advised him if my customer mis-declared weight i would pay him for the running around, however if it was a problem on his end i would not. He moved the load, probably rail, but he said it was highway, it didn't deliver on time and it picked up late. I would never use them again.

Why wouldn't you have just got him to scale everything, the truck weight, the trailer gross weight is all on ownership paperwork.
We have every units weight and all our trailer weights on a spread sheet as we can easily calculate if we do have a heavy trailer which truck/trailer can handle it.

You think they would have done that, however, i'm not sure now it was their equipment. He couldn't supply me any of that information, only the scale ticket, which alone doesn't confirm the shipment weight.

I have moved a few shipments for them from Montreal and we had one that they needed back to there dock right away called me late to tell me this and I couldn't get it there until, 11am or something, I probably had appts or something and I told him if he needed it right away I can keep it on the dock and they could send one of the drivers and I was told by the dispatcher they didn't have there own drivers, I said you don't have any of your own city drivers? That's why when this first thread opened I said to check how many trucks they owned as I felt it was very odd that a carrier didn't have they own city trucks, the dispatcher went weird on the phone when we were talmking about it.
I have personally have not seen 1 of there trucks on the road, but I could be totally wrong.

Messed me up pretty bad with damaged freight going to BC....Cost me 10 grand when all was said and done. Had 3 claims with them. 2 small ones then a whole load. Johhny is the worst to deal with and will never use them again. They have the nerve to call me for freight still. On my do not use list and all of you should do the same.....bad bad carrier!!!!!!!!!!!

There is way too many good carriers out there to have to deal with the like of them...

They have moved loads for us to SK., and AB.
Never had any problems at all - in fact they confirm pick & delivery, drivers fax PODs within 24 hrs. to speed up billing.Just great to deal with!

I must say, I am very curious as to why the different experiences posted here.

East West..

Ya I've Used Them A Few Times,,and They Never Disappoint Me,,,they Always *^&# It Up,,,johnny Can Talk The Talk,,always Apologizes But Always Schmucks It Up Again.

I'm a little shocked as well here !... I've used East/ West for quite a while and never had any major issues with them. They even call and leave me a message to confirm the delivery date.... a rarity these days.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to chime in here and say that every experience I have had with this company is bad.

We picked up a load in MA on a Friday that was supposed to take up 14 feet of trailer space. The load filled my 26`truck from floor to ceiling and I ended up having to cancel my other freight. A new fair rate was agreed upon and the load was delivered to their warehouse in Mississauga on Saturday Morning. I called there several times over the next week to get a revised confirmation, but I never received one. We sent out the invoice at the revised rate and they would not pay it. Six months later we finally were able to collect on the original amount plus 100 dollars.

I refuse to deal with them, but other dispatchers here have accepted loads from them and we continue to wait for payments. After 60 days they will tell you when the next check run is, but they can`t tell you if you will be included.

The other thing I notice every day is that they constantly post LTL shipments in the GTA for 1-2 skids. You would think that they would have found a few good carriers by now and would avoid posting this kind of freight on the link. I guess they just want to find the most deperate carriers?

I don't know who says they pay on time either... they owe me money for several small shipments 100.00 - 110.00 owing since January... am getting cheques but when I asked if this was normal payment terms for them I got told I should just be happy I was getting paid and shouldn't be so snappy.

Anybody else having problems collecting. My factoring company is saying they are having problems. Have invoices over 100 days.

I haven't used these guys in years since I blocked them from the link. They were always the first to call on any posting from Montreal to anywhere in the West. We always asked if they were picking up with their equipment in order not for freight to be transfered more than it had to be. The answer was always 'no problem, our trucks' ... low and behold, never picked up with their own equipment, always delivered days (if not more) late. They consolidate and send it West by rail, then give you every reason in the world to why the shipment is late while still claiming its on their truck and not the train. Damages, lies, late deliveries. Not worth the stress.

I got a good customer out of them when they told a broker that they were going to pick up a load before 4pm and they didn't make it. The broker posted the load and I was in the same city and arrived at the shipper at 4:30. At 5 when we were rolling out another company was driving in and they said they were brokered by East West Johnny and was supposed to pick up the load. They were promised more money than was offered from the original broker. It sounds like they will double broker loads at anytime they can.

I would be careful about them. We have removed them from our link.
