G Roch, we want your opinions & how to change them!

@Henry I don't know who this person is, but yeah if we did call all he/she had to do was ask for their rate and if I could have gotten it from the client I would have given him the load and made him/her happy...

@Freight Broker EXACTLY! Going home empty nowadays is a huge loss considering the rates we've been paying!

I am sure you didn't have a gun pointed at his/her head when they agreed to the rate. It is hard enough to make money with a full trailer of freight , than an empty. trailer . His/ her comments make little sense.

we did end up moving an IL to ON and paid approx 70% more than we used to! so yeah we can pay fair rates...

Don't you get the rate from GRoch before picking up the load? If you do not, that is stupid. And if you do,why did you agreed to the rate? If GROCH prices are too low, why did you take the freight?

He is saying his trucks was empty at 4 pm and the only load available was from Groch and rather than take their load he chose to come home empty over taking a Groch load. That is how I read it.

This guy is hiding behind a username, we have no idea who he is, and if we did offer him this IL to ON, well we ended up moving it yesterday with a carrier we've used before at a rate that was good for both us. The rate was about 70% higher than what we paid a few months ago, so it's not impossible to just ASK for a rate you want and we'll take it to the customer. We don't make the rates, the market does, just ask and give us a chance at getting you what you want!

Maybe moving it yesterday was the best option because it might have been a hassle to deal with this other unknown carrier...

Rob . You read it correctly.....I also like China king , 1 min from my shop. Greg ....you are the best broker I have ever worked for, mabey you have the answer Shawn is looking for . Shawn... you asked a question and you got an answer you don’t like . Don’t ask next time . But I am not interested in CO-brokering freight .

@generalkonrad it's got nothing to do with liking or not liking the answer, I just don't know who you are, therefore I can't look into the situation to fix any issue we've had in the past.

@Igor Galanter thanks! Yes, we've assed the issues at hand, and we're trying to fix them, just a normal thing for anyone who wants to keep a good business running for many more years. Not trying to duck or hide or ignore anything from the past, but what's done is done and now we're trying to be better to people in the future
Shawn, I commend your attempt to change past conceptions of your company where carriers seem to have had poor experiences. You say you are "trying to be better to people in future". Bingo! There is your answer.

The worst possible rates out of everyone on the link!

Edited for clarity:
FTL DV Portland Maine - GTA - gotta be less than a thousand CAD to cover - loaded miles 620.

I get that the market is asymmetrical - but with that logic; one can say inflation is okay because there are food banks.

@artmax did you ask for a 70% increase? that seems to be the magic number LOL

Back when I was pricing loads (pre and early covid) I found that the outbound rate to the northeast USA from the GTA was frequently $1800-$2200, but the return loads were close to $1000-$1500. It's like the guy who went out for $1800 needed the $1500 back and the guy who went out for $2200 could come home for the $1000. Rate per mile on the rounder is really what mattered. Is this still a lane where there is a large discrepancy between outbound and inbound rates?

Anyway, if the rate doesn't work for you, say no and find a different load. :)

Keep well, thanks for sharing,
Mike

I generally avoid speaking ill from any company, but G. ROCH, on the other hand, have been blocked for the last 17 years.

We will never entertain them.

I think you should do the same.
