Have been having some trouble collecting from this company.

1111 Davis Drive
Unit 1-STE. 101
Newmarket, Ontario

I updated a post I had in the reference section but thought I should post here as what started out looking for a reference has ended up with a collection scenerio I have not yet encountered...

Long story short is... I did a load on December 6, 2010 and billed for it on December 8. After a couple months of no payment and difficulty contacting their A/P people (Trudy only available on Thursdays) I called and spoke to Dave, who seemed to be someone in charge. This was last week and by that time we were over 80 days with no end in site. They told me a cheque was mailed more than two weeks ago, but it does not take that long.

I told Dave I would send in fedex to pickup the cheque. He made me wait one more day to check the mail and see that it wasn't there. I sent Fedex in on Friday (oh, and you can't send a courier directly to them, they don't allow it, must send courier to local UPS store) and received my cheque today.

They short-paid me by $12.50 and said it was to cover the cost of stopping payment on their cheque... Wow... Never had that one.

I paid to send in fedex because they are so late in paying, and they want me to also pay their cost for stopping payment.

Anyone think that is reasonable?

consider yourself lucky

You got paid. Be happy, so you lost $12.50 from someone who's business address is a UPS store. Consider yourself lucky and get your DNU list out.

Thanks GordM, you're probably right... I'm just not willing to give up until I have exhausted all avenues.

All's well that ends well...

After receiving their short-paid cheque I emailed them to let them know that I will not be covering the costs of their mistakes and will instead be contacting their customer to collect the remaining $12.50 that they were unwilling to pay.

David Pound replied to let me know that the cheque they mailed to me was returned to them. No explanation why, but I'm guessing they didn't put a stamp on it. They also decided it best to pay out the rest of the money owing and I received my final cheque for $12.50 today...

Only 3 months and a week after I invoiced them!

Welcome to my DNU list!

Johnny.....YOU did the right thing. The problem today is everyone will settle for less or take a hit for a couple of bucks....the issue, no one wants to stand up to the ignorant, non ethical business people out there....hats off to you!
