Employee Verification faxes

Morning all,

Is anyone else receiving faxes from US Companies looking for employee referrals? We have received several in the last couple weeks from two different companies for two different people in the US. I'm trying to figure out what the scam is here as neither person ever worked for us. Any thoughts? Kind of a head scratcher! LOL

LOL...Yes....I know! I'm trying to figure out the scam but I haven't yet....the only thing I can think of is some "consulting company" may be selling their services to a prospective person trying to help them get hired somewhere and they are using Canadian companies as references thinking a US company won't follow up? But that still doesn't seem to hold any water so to speak....just wondering if anyone else has been getting them.
 
Surprisingly some are still heavy in the faxes. Just the other day, got a warning from the state troopers of SC. Of course, you can mail it into them, or fax it. No email address to send it to.

Here I thought fax machines were a thing of the past, but apparently still going strong!
