Hello peeps

Just a question here. Emanifest requirements starting next month at Cda/US borders.

I just received an e-mail from a client. The read came from her custom broker. It sates that as of November 1, 2012 this is mandatory. Although they also claim that as of July 1, 2102 the had confirmed that only 4000 of the 27,000 carriers doing cross border business, have actually registered.

The memo is to advise the client that " they should only hire" registered carriers. The registration can take 48 hours so applying in advance in an absolute must.

Are you set up for this> Is there anyone who does not plan to register. Is it really mandatory for carriers?

Hi Debbie,
It really is mandatory. Since this past July, CBSA has had a lot more carriers sign on. The problem they had was some carriers where not taking the mandate seriously which forced CBSA's hand to keep pushing it off further.
We have been doing ACI through the portal for over a year. It is very easy to get signed up. You send your letter in this afternoon and you would probably have your code in the mail by Fri/Tues. The entries are very simple to do and take no time at all. The drivers like it because they only need 1 sheet of paper (the manifest) to cross now.
