Hi All;

I had a really bad experience with Elite Freight Lines (Parm dispatch) and their amigos (IBEX - whom I hear are M.I.A. somewhere in India now).

I gave freight to Elite Freight back in December before Christmas. It was a FTL of electronics from BC to deliver back to my customer in Etobicoke.

After a couple of delays during transit we arranged with Parm to off load the freight at my customers warehouse on a Sunday. On the Saturday evening I get a phone call at home from Parm, his side-kick Sonny and Harry the owner of IBEX (who was in posession of our freight because Elite had double brokered to him) demanding money up front before delivery the next day. I wasn't having any part of this and I went straight to the police station with names, address and phone numbers.

To my astonishment they did nothing. They said that no laws were broken yet and they were only being nasty and doing bad busines. They suggested that I pay them then sue them for a breach of contract. I was mortified how non chalant they were about the whole situation.

On Sunday the delivery was not made as I was having no part of this extortion. I contacted my customer at home and advised. They were understanding. We arranged to have them deliver Monday morning and the owner from our company demanded to meet up with the driver and Elite's owner at the consignee's (my customer). Our owner wanted to supervise the offloading and then only hand over the money and rid himself of these gypsy's.

On Monday we received a call from Elite to inform us that unfortunately they would not be able to deliver because the freight, the truck and the trailer were stolen. They used the yard of Danco Logistics to park their truck. This ended up going through Markel Insurance who is the insurer for IBEX who, according to Markel has had several of these types of claims. What kind of crooks are these? My insurance company would never insure me with this kind of a record.

Today I just heard from Markel insurance that IBEX has picked up and moved back to India somewhere. I guess they had maximized their profits in the stolen freight business and decided it was time to call it quits. And the gem of all - Elite Motor Freight (Parm /Sonny) are now operating out of IBEX's offices.

BE VERY AWARE OF THESE PEOPLE AND SPREAD THE WORD.

Sorry about your problem with these guys, but let this be a lesson to everyone on this site.
A full load of electronics is going to tempt even an honest carrier!!!
It is important to check out every carrier you use but with a load like that you have to be 100% sure.
There are lots of good carriers who run that lane, rate might be higher but considering what can happen it is well worth it.
Not trying to rub salt in the wound, but if one of my people gave the load to these guys there would be a job opening here.

Any current update on service levels?

I have read through the difficult story below but it seems like the safer details check out and of course no one has yet to submit any complaints to the TIA...

Thanks,

Mike

Yes,

We've given Parm 2 loads this year and find pickup and delivery were all on time (and when you call for an update he has an actual truck location for you)...

No complaints.

Keep well,

Mike

We were skeptical to give these guys a try based on the above as well. We asked for references, they all checked out and gave them a try. They did a great job. Picked up and delivered on time with good communication throughout. Would use again.
