and guess who owns it, ex Walker Transport, OTA, if i,m not mistaken
wish there was a site, like TripAdvisor for Brokers / Logistics co...carriers could rate
easily so we can avoid problems with collections, or praise good accounts

you are absolutely correct - it was certainly one of the causative factors, but far from the only one.

Tons of tobacco still comes out every year. The tobacco farmers are expanding in leaps and bounds in the area.
LE Walker was poorly managed as soon as it was turned over to the daughter.
The truck plant is St Thomas was their 'crack' and they couldn't get off of it. When the plant went on shut down they hired sales reps to fill the hole (and they did) but as soon as the plant was back up they dropped everything else to service the truck plant. They burned bridges.
Building a terminal on leased land wasn't the wisest idea either.
At the time she was president of the OTA... MacKinnon bailed her out and made it look like a merger so that the president of the OTA's company didn't go under while she was in that position.
Whay anyone would choose to do business with her is the question.

They didn't have a good lock on the Freightliner business either. Back in 05 I called on Freightliner, and they expressed alot of interest in working with us (was with Compass back then). I quoted them and was good to go.. until.. Compass got an angry call from LE Walker about infringing on their territory. I guess Compass had a good relationship with LE Walker as they told me to back off the account.. Too bad.. I was half starved back then, and getting Freightliner would have put some flesh on my bones.

Wasn't my company chica123.. I only worked there briefly on straight commission. Have long since been on my own and doing much better.

I agree. I am glad you moved on and are doing well. They left a real sour taste in my mouth...
