It’s a recipe for disaster – a drunk driver behind the wheel of a fully loaded rig.
Chatham-Kent OPP say they got numerous complaints from concerned drivers and the erratic driving of a tractor-trailer eastbound on Hwy 401 near Tilbury on Saturday.
Just after 1:30 p.m., officers found a transport truck swerving across the lanes of the highway and pulled the rig over.
An alcohol test showed the driver to be double the legal limit for alcohol consumption. The fully loaded truck was towed from the scene.
Gurdip Grewal, 51, of Stoney Creek faces numerous alcohol-related charges.

Scary. Could have been a much bigger and sadder story if someone was killed. Driver should lose license forever, however the unfortunate thing for our industry is that the "story" will be about the problem with truck drivers as opposed to the epidemic of alcohol and substance abuse with society in general. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against drinking if you can control it and not have it effect others. But, It is a huge problem. Vehicle accidents always get the headlines but more lives have been destroyed off the road then on it. I bet everyone on this forum has a friend or family member that has had their life effected by it. Sad thing is that there are many "functioning" alcoholics that show up for work every day and you would never know they had a problem until it's too late. I had a driver once tell me after he retired that he drank every day, all day, for 30 years and never had an accident. He simply kept the window open and popped a lot of breath mints.

The scary part is the lack of respect for someone else's life!
AND the disrespect for the highway traffic regulations.

It seems every day you hear more and more mishap stories related to "Gurdip" and his brothers.
