Is the customs released time supplied by a brokers PAPS/PARS Checker (in this case Livingston) a fairly good indicator of when the trailer crossed the border?

I have a carrier claiming that they were in Ringgold, GA Yesterday AM, but the PAPS checker shows "Customs Released: 11/17/2014 06:35PM".

-In my experience, usually yes.

I have a carrier claiming that they were in Ringgold, GA Yesterday AM, but the PAPS checker shows "Customs Released: 11/17/2014 06:35PM".
So, it cleared last night into the US but was in GA in the morning? Unless there is some computer issues (which can happen). Either way, check the series of times: Paperwork received, submitted to customs, arrival to border, etc... May paint a more clear picture for you.

Most importantly - I hope your freight delivers as close to when it's supposed to as possible. Remember this time of year (now until April) we need to account for that silly white stuff that slows down all traffic. I prefer a carrier to park my load on the side of the road than to push a driver in unsafe conditions. Safety always first!

Keep well,
Mike

The clearance time is usually pretty accurate. It's not clear why the carrier was making the claim to you but you could always ask to see the satellite tracking from the unit if it was regarding a cost they wanted to get from you.

Thanks for all your replies, I didn't want to get into it with the carrier without being fairly certain that I wasn't getting the whole story. Here's the rundown on this one:

530 pm 11/14/14 - requested arrive-by time

930 pm 11/14/14 - time they arrived (shipper wouldn't have waited but freight had to be in Florida for Monday)

734 pm 11/15/14 - Customs Certified

800 am 11/17/14 - dispatch says the driver is stuck at Ringgold, GA at a delivery he was supposed to make on Sunday but missed his appt, once he is unloaded, there is freight in front of mine for Orlando, than my Clearwater, FL will deliver Tuesday by noon

635 pm 11/17/14 - Customs Released

1100 am 11/18/14 - According to dispatch my freight is stuck behind 12 skids in Tampa (where did they come from?) and the receiver will not unload until 9PM

800 am 11/19/14 - Dispatch says the truck is at my customer.

I'm waiting for my customer to confirm arrival, but I will be glad once this one is over.
