Trukker- You'll find the large majority of the members here are 'by the book'.
Regarding Martinetav's post: I don't think that they were implying they intend to modify theirs, just that it's possible. Being from la Belle Province myself, I'm familiar with some of the reverse humour and thought to explain.

I do agree it will be interesting. I just hope for the sake of the driver and the motoring public they loose the 14hr rule and no split sleeper provision. Telling a man he has to go and basically cannot stop for 14hrs is safe??? I for one think not. I know when I was on the road a couple hour nap to wait out traffic or just because the eyelids needed it always felt better.
The wrecks sure seem to be getting worse and more often, an while alot of it is the quality of the so called drivers some people employ I for one think the rules also have a lot to do with it.

I've heard a lot about the detriment of the no split, especially for those who were regimented in their routines. Can anyone do anything at all straight for 14 hours without being fatigued, never mind staring at the road or sitting in traffic? The problem is - the people making decisions about the regulations (government) have no more sense about a truck than they see them on the road and pass them just before an off ramp ensuring that they need to cut the truck off before slamming on the brakes to exit.
I take naps myself and I don't drive truck.

Ain't that the truth. Used to run the corridor and would always have dinner and a nap in Milton before going across the city after traffic had died down.
