I would usually use the search function for the information I require, but companies with such short names are a problem. So…can anyone tell me, is CSA Trans a broker or do they operate their own trucks? Seems our office has asked them to quote on some LTL and before we proceed, I really want to know if the freight would move on their own trucks, if they do indeed have any. Thanks to all.

They have been consolidation freight Toronto to California and back for years. They broker out the linehaul and have warehouses on both end to do the deliveries from.

They do have their own local 5-ton and tailgate trucks and very few linehaul trucks but from what I've experienced, they consolidate with their own local trucks but the linehaul portion is brokered out for the most part.

I have done quite a lot with them through the years. I haven't had any really huge issues other than a service delay here and there.

I am sure they are legit. These days one cannot be too careful when chossing who will haul your customers freight. As the market slows from its lofty highs of earlier this year, some operators may elect to hand off shipments they might normally haul themselves, in an effort to keep their costs under control. Constant vigilance is the order of the day.
