Brampton men charged with stealing truck loads
Two Brampton men are facing charges in a series of tractor-trailer load thefts in Mississauga and Halton Hills.
The Halton Regional Police investigation began when police received a report of the theft of a tractor-trailer at Truck Town Terminals on Steeles Avenue in Halton Hills in April.
The trailer contained 18 Bombardier ATVs. The combined value of the truck, trailer and ATVs was $240,000. The vehicle, trailer and cargo were recovered in Toronto during the investigation.
Officers learned of similar thefts in Peel Region, and a joint investigation between Halton and Peel police was launched.
The investigation revealed the same suspects were responsible for:
• The theft of four trailers containing snow tires from Amboro Transport on Dixie Road in Mississauga, with a total value of $190,000. Two of these loads were recovered.
• The theft of a tractor and trailer containing baby food from D4 Logistics on Britannia Road East Mississauga, with a total value of $90,000. The tractor was recovered.
Police arrested two men Thursday and searched their Brampton homes, where officers recovered police scanners, cell phones and eight tires, all believed to be used for and connected to the thefts.
Charged with three counts of theft over $5,000, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime is Arkadiusz Nalichowski, 36, and Christopher Juszczak, 60, both of Brampton. They were both held for a bail hearing.
