Is it just me or is anyone else having issues with comments not appearing in Link postings?
I did a "test" posting but when I receive calls about my posting, I am told that they cannot see my "test only, no calls please" comment.
Strange.....

Why is it that people post "Test Only"?
My outbound load is not confirmed yet so I was just seeing what might be available should we get the load. I put "test only" so I don't waste people's time by having them call me only to tell them that I don't have a truck available yet. For me, it's just a common courtesy thing.

The people calling are probably in the US and using DAT which doesn't show the comments.

Acutally, a Canadian broker called me. I guess I need to have yet another "talk" with the Link.

people with smaller screens don't scroll to the right, or simply they have DAT.

even if they are a canadian broker they may be subscribing to DAT instead of Link for some reason.

posting a truck or a load as a TEST or DO NOT CALL etc is a pain!

we call them anyways, most of the time they have trucks and can haul the freight.

Not to point fingers at anyone but people wonder why other people get upset with them on the phone!

jeez, not being able to follow simple directions is a pretty good indication, incompetency is looming in the background.

Why post a test at all? If you have a load pending, use the carrier search feature to see who/how many ppl are in the location of your load. Posting "test" just junks up the load board more than it already is. Too many ppl post "phantom" loads or "tests" when they could really just pick up the phone and call for that rate they are looking for.

What I dont understand is when brokers post test just looking for rates etc. Why do they need a trucking company to rate the freight for them? When my customers brokers included call me for rates I give them one. I believe the brokers that are posting rates are either incompetent and have no clue to the market or more that likely rate shoppers looking to maximize there profits. What good is a rate from Joe Blow trucking going to do if the customer isn't going to have the load for a week or a month. A truck I am posting today to get to wherever may not be around in a week because I have covered the reason I needed to get there in the first place.

I was not aware that under some circumstances the comment field is not visible. Thanks to those who mentioned this.

I always post my extension and how many skids if its LTL in the comments. Numerous of times people will either not read the comments or can not see it. It is normal same thing as the date. For example I posted a load today that is picking up on Tuesday and I received about 10 calls from carriers thinking the load was for today because they did not read the correctly.

And I'd bet the first thing they ask is... "How much does it pay"

Not... what's involved, what's the product, what does it weigh, shipping hours, delivery requirements or anything like that. Just "How much". The broker doesn't ask enough questions of the carrier... the carrier barely reads the Load confirmation... and that's where the problems start... Just sayin'

We try to find out some details about the load, but 70% of the time some one on another line yells out "covered" to everyone while we're still on to 2nd or 3rd question.

Many times even the broker's aren't aware of all the details which gets frustrating because at that point you're just giving out a rate based on the miles, and then get a nasty surprise once you arrive for pickup.

The better carriers will ask... the better brokers have the answers.

If a broker can't tell you what your picking up and a few other basics... it's probably a good load to stay away from.

Well said...

Would have to agree, if someone doesnt know what they are selling, it usualy ends up being trouble

yeah if I don't know what the freight is I don't sell it, unless it is a good client moving a new product they don't want known too much, or a tour, sports event, etc.

If I have a truck in North Carolina, I will put "no calls please" or "just looking", because there are 250 loads on the board, 200 of which pay 1.85 per mile. I don't want my time wasted dealing with American brokers (or the cheap Canadian ones) with crappy lumber that think they are paying a good rate. While I am fending them off, I miss the freight from my good guys.
I don't want to offend anyone who has "good" lumber :) but you know what I mean.
I usually am looking for LTL, but I post 'B', because some 'T's are really LTL if you look at the comments.
But then again, some guys think 42 feet is LTL too.

that's the reason why we call either way, you never know we could match on the load or match on another load elsewhere
