Coleson Freight Carriers Ltd

I do admit that we have never been that late on an ltl. We do state that our eta is what we are aiming for and we do reserve the right to be a few day late. We than keep our customer's apprised of the situation. But, like I said, we've never been more than a couple days late.
If, on the other hand they have a habit of doing this it's something else altogether

This 'it's LTL folks' is garbage. If you're going to be in the LTL business, then the business has to be run by some sort of standards. You cannot tell me that any direct customer you work with doesn't ask for service intervals as part of your proposals to them.

The caveat with LTL is that by keeping it to a service standards, sometimes you will have bad trips because you won't get enough on the truck to make money. But usually, it's more profitable. The proper interval on Ohio to Louisiana freight should be 4 business days, not more. Usually if you pick freight on a Friday, it'll get delivered by Wednesday but if a customer asks me, I stay by the 4 day rule.

I probably wouldn't make anything less than a 7 day promise from LA. Otherwise there is no time to shop. takes about 3 days to travel. OH is another situation. But we often do ltl from west coast and we usually give ourselves 7 to 9 days depending on whether we are just beginning or if we are near the end of filling our truck. And not everyone is in the ltl business. Sometimes we go that way because there is no ftl to be found where we are.

That really isn't in line with what most customers expect. The point when someone uses a carrier for LTL is that the network is established. It's rare that the carriers normally providing service on this lane don't make it happen in that period of time. The exception may be if it ships on a Monday but then again, shippers who would ship LTL on the lane with any regularity would be trained not to ship on a Monday.

Asked us to do a pick up for them and cancelled while driver was onsite. We were ontime for the load. Never paid for missed pick up saying they gave us enough notice.
