BE AWARE of CMX. Drew and his staff continue to double broker loads and not pay the end carriers. I just received notice from the end carrier about non-payment from a load six months ago. The end carrier contacted my customer who contacted me. This was the first I had heard of this issue but I was quick to provide proof of payment to the end carrier. He is taking CMX to court. Apparently there is close $200,000 of law suits against CMX for non-payment. Simply stop using this carrier to haul your loads. There is a detailed write up about CMX including comments from previous employees on how they are just scum bags, found at: http://canadiantransportationmonitor.blogspot.com/2009/08/cmx-motor-express-bowmanville-on.html . Ken is the father and he has taught Drew his nasty tricks of double brokering. I can't express enough caution against this company.

I don't know about any double brokering with CMX, but they are very very slow payers. Lots of stories and runarounds. Drew always seems to be on "vacation" when it comes to answering questions about unpaid bills.

Didn't seem to care when I called their customer to tell them what CMX was up to. Ended up having to sue them in small claims court to force payment.

Beware of CMX

Watch in the near future for postings by Truckway International....I heard they were in the process of setting up a new company, and when you google their address, there is listings for Truckway. Other than a self storage unit...CMX is the only occupant of the building! Beware and use with caution.

They did a load for us back in late July . Screwed up badly . No bill or POD from them yet and I wondered if it was double brokered . Don't want to pay them if they doubled and aren't going to pay the carrier . Want to make sure carrier who moved it gets paid . Any suggestions ?

Sadly, it seems you must call your customer and ask them. If you can't get any info from CMX than it's probably better to get this figured out sooner rather than later. It's possible CMX may have direct billed your customer.

Received a call from the factoring company about the load they did for us in July. The factoring company said it was double brokered and provided us with a copy of the BOL and invoice from the company that did the move and said they would not factor CMX's invoice.
I have already been paid by the shipper and want to make sure that the transport company that actually moved it gets paid. If I pay them direct as I am sure if I pay CMX they will not forward the funds on, does CMX have legal recourse against me or the shipper?

Factoring company

hockey,
If it were me, I'd contact the factoring company that's looking for payment and offer to pay the invoice in full, IF and only IF, they agree to defend any action against you for any non-payment litigation brought by others against you for this move, and to indemnify you against any financial loss associated therewith.

Factoring company won't factor it .They said they have heard similar stories to mine so they are checking things more closely . When I asked why they would deal with a company like this , she said thats not my decision .
CMX called this AM and asked if we do quick pay . When I laughed and told her I know it was double brokered and would pay the carrier she said she just wanted to make sure the carrier got paid . More laughter on my part .

What was the difference between the actual carrier's invoice and what you had contracted with CMX to do this move? In other words, what was CMX making for their double-brokering activity? If you have the original carrier's invoice, you know what CMX was paying them. You could pay the carrier's invoice directly and then, if you want, pay CMX the difference, although I don't really like to reward double-brokering.

CMX/Truckway

Avoid Drew @ CMX/ Truckway at all cost. Stills owes us for an invoice from May. Says he hasn't been paid by his customer, so cannot pay us. Just BS and lies from these guys! Forever on our DNU list.

Got some good news about theses clowns at CMX today. I have been informed by Victoria at Link today that they have been officialy removed from Link. We were one of the companies owed by CMX and finally got our money last week. I wish we had InsideTransport before we dealt with these guys. It would have saved us a year of our time chasing these crooks down to get paid. Coodos to InsideTransport and maybe there is some hope with Link. I did say maybe.

CMX makes all us small carriers look bad.

I work for a small outfit with 6 trucks and find good reliable flat bed work scarce because of guys like this. One thing I can say for the owner is he takes pride in his guys. But companies like CMX continue to scam and operate under the radar. I know that someone from North Carolina recently had their accounts FROZEN because I know one of their drivers. He was stuck out West for a week waiting on his pay cheque because he had to pay for his own fuel.
