Whoa...hold on a second. Before you kill all the rats in SW Ontario, lets just back up a minute. I never suggested that carriers do not, or cannot not, or will not perform some of the functions that brokers do such as warehouse management, load scheduling, project management, etc.. Some carriers do all that and do it well, just as many brokers do. My comment was in direct response to your "nothing more, nothing less", "only in it for a fee", which to be honest, I found highly offensive. Sure, when a broker deals with a carrier it is usually a one of transaction. You transport the freight, I pay you some money. Wham - bang, thank you ma'am. Hopefully it grows into a more long term beneficial arrangement and it quite often does, but not always. A broker's relationship with their clients however is much more than a one time exchange of money, certainly something more involved than "nothing more, nothing less". For goodness sakes, I have some customers that have been with us since we started in 1991! There must be something "more, than less"! I don't expect you or any carrier to know all of the services and offerings we provide to our clients, but please believe me, they do exist and we are proud of their success. Starting any business takes courage, initiative and determination.
