They where at one time getting US trucks to bring in watermelons to a crossdock in Marysville MI and having local guys run across a couple times a day back to Kitchener. A friend of mine was doing it and it worked well the first year but them it all went to hell for him as they kept beating up the rate and stretching out the payments.

They are ok to deal with but if you have waiting time or bond charges they send over a confirmation covering the accesorial charges but when you get your cheque they never pay for the extra charges. Then the runaround starts, eventually you will get tired calling them for the extra charges.......I did.

Accounts payable person Linda is always busy, leave messages and does not call you back. Have invoices over 92 days old and still chasing.
Not a good company to do work for. Lies alot and always an excuse when you do get ahold of Linda.

You can ask them for a punch card to prove the time your driver was in and out! Good luck you - will not ever see it!

On our DNU list for the same reasons, waiting time - promised to be paid; but didn't. Payments over 100 days etc.
We now get paid up front before sending in the truck and then we leave after two hours of waiting time at the shipper. If they don't receive it in a timely manner we leave as well and let the freight sit on the trailer.
We don't do much work for them any more......

Is this not what used to be F G Lister? Why is anyone surprised when a produce distributor has your trucks sitting around all day long with reefers running? Unfortunately, so many of these companies still think that because they are ICC exempt commodities, that drivers have no HOS rules or anything else to abide by. So glad I don't work produce.

F G Lister is still around. Chill Fresh as stated is owned by Southern Corporate Packers and if my memory serves me correct they are a Georgia based watermelon buyer.

There is a connection. Both are owned by members of the same Arrigo family. I'm pretty sure Vince was active up here at the OFTB and must have moved to Florida. Actually, the business model is good.
