What about MSM bragging in a truck news article about carriers being to cheap then posting Bolton to Elk Grove Village Il for a whopping .92 cents a mile 500 bucks. The sad part some azzhat took it.

It's amazing what has happened to the IL market....5 years ago $750 + 4% fsc was considered a horrible rate to Chicago, and now some people are trying to back door one another for $500. Bad show...I would rather sell my customer freight or give it back than run out for that...

I remember when Chicago used to pay $1050. I laugh when people call me with cheap rates. The rate is barely the trip cost.
I sell loads to Chicago, IL every day out of Toronto and I have carriers begging for $900

Until recently I was getting 790.00 for Mississauga to Chicago loads. I was selling them for 700.00 (always to the same carrier). there was on average 4 a week.
A company called "Topline" has undercut me and taken the loads for 510.00 all in.
I've always hated Chicago.

When you run to Chicago on vans, there is pretty much no deadhead involved for your backhaul and they pay very well. A lot of companies are actually running to Chicago empty to pick up customer freight. Given that, while I agree $510 is too cheap, the other side of the scale is WAY unrealistic.

Thank God we don't rely a lot on Link for freight. I love giving people sticker shock when they find out just because you've never heard of a carrier means they're a scrub carrier and will do stuff cheap. No is the easiest word in the English language to say. It's amazing because they'll call back and try to haggle.
