I am off to Mexico tomorrow for a well deserved holiday. With todays antics by President Trump regarding his famous wall and who is going to pay for it, I strongly believe I should find someway to identify my wife and myself as Canadians, not Americans. Anyone know if there is a store at Toronto Int'l. that might sell Canadian flag lapel pins? Last thing I want is for some angry Mexican to think we are from Los Estados Unitos!

I hear there is a new "Wall Tax" for flying thru the US to Mexico $1,000,000 but you get your picture on that 1 foot of wall it will build.

If you are going to a resort city like Cancun you really don't need to worry. Cancun is actually safer than many cities in the U.S.

With that said the best way to get espanol people to respect you is to hables espanol.

Yes, have a good trip. And these Mexicans working at the resorts can tell an American from a Canadian from a mile away! You don't need to pin something to your nipple to identify yourself!!! LOL

All true! The post was, as you all know, mostly in fun. Yes, we are noticeably different from our neighbors to the south. Usually quieter, better tippers (even at the All Inclusives), and perhaps less inclined to brag about how great we are. After many vacations to other Mexican locations, this will be our second trip to Huatulco, a beautiful area of southern Mexico on the Pacific coast. It is a bit of a well kept, secret destination that does not receive the same crowds as Cancun, Puerto Vallarta or the Mayan Riviera. We have always found the Mexican people to be extremely proud of their country but also friendly and very helpful. This trip will be for three weeks and hopefully longer in the years to come. Yes youngtea. estoy intendando aprendar Espanol!
Adios amigos!

I actually believe that they are more distrustful of people trying to LOOK like a Canadian by wearing lapel pins and Canadian flags sown to their baggage. We Canadians are a little more classy :)

You need to have the Canadian Flag tattooed on the left side of your chest (over your heart). This way you'll never lose it no matter where you travel. :-)
